No Co-op or Forge at release, Your Opinion?

In my opinion I’m a bit sad forge isnt at launch the same with co-op, I understand why they aren’t going to be there at launch but I don’t want it to take a Year, in my opinion when they have a system that they like that works Add it in and let it be in like a beta (sorta like how MCC has a Insider Specific to MCC , it should be called Infinite Insider) so players can give feedback so they don’t mess up on a feature just a idea but do you have a idea or a opinion on it please tell me I’d like to see the different opinions and ideas!

I am okay with the Halo Infinite Co-op Campaign levels and Forge not coming out on the Halo Infinite launch. This can give Joseph Staten, Bonnie Ross and their team at 343 Industries more time planning to release the Co-op Campaign levels and Forge in the next Halo Infinite updates.

Been a few grumbles about it on the forums, so there are plenty of discussions about it - you aren’t alone.

Estimated arrival for co-op is 3 months, forge is 6 months. Subject to change but doesn’t appear it will be too long.

Most recent Inside Infinite has me hyped.

I will say I am sad about campaign co-op. I don’t have an opinion on Forge as I don’t use it, but it is a bummer for those who use Forge a lot. All in all though, if Infinite is just as amazing as it looks, then not having these two features at launch is something I can overlook.

Gutted about Forge. Hope the flight is nice and early.

Meh about co-op. Not my cup of tea.

I mean, it sucks… It sucks a lot. But, I’m also just glad I’ll be able to play Halo this year, and I’d hate to wait another year just to have everything there, as opposed to getting the game, and just waiting for the rest.

It’s been 6 years, I wanna play a new Halo.

I’ve finished all halo campaigns with my friend and not being able to play with him at least on launch is pretty bad but it’s understandable if it’s the only way to release a awesome game

This is how I feel, it sucks, but Im not having a mental breakdown over it or anything.

I’m a bit gutted about it. Not pleased but I understand, and willing to accept it. I will likely postpone campaign purchase until co-op is in, or shortly before it’s inclusion. I usually play campaign solo the first time, but my friends and I always play through it together, usually a mission or so each week before jumping into MM.
I love forge and have spent endless hours wasting time on random stuff just messing around. I usually put together a couple fun games to play at good ol’ fashion LAN parties. I’m chomping at the bit to see what we’ll get this time.

I’m primarily gutted over the lack of co-op at launch, as I always have a buddy to play with every Halo game. However, I’m on game pass and it isn’t a deal breaker for me. I can live without forge for a bit as it’s not the mode I spend the most time in. I do bet once they finally get in the custom maps and games are going to be awesome. I’m hoping forge AI is also a thing. I just hope they get co-op back in quickly because that’ll hurt the game to some extent without it.

I am also bumbed out that we will not see forge and campaign co-op at launch. I usually LASO co-op with my friends after a normal playthrough. I guess this time the normal playthrough will be by myself and we can do the Legendary run later. This one is more disappointing to me than forge but it really isn’t a big deal.

I’m fine with forge being delayed because it is supposed to push the envelope. 343i seemed over ambitious to push the bar higher than halo 5 and I think that is a good thing. I would rather have a better and polished forge post launch than the same forge we had before at launch.

I also remember seeing people say the success of the game is ruined due to those delays. I actually think it’s not. While these features may be important to traditional fans, it won’t be to new players. What matters is the base gameplay. If people don’t like how the game plays, forge and co-op will not keep them from leaving. The core gameplay of halo infinite is what will retain the player base, not forge or co-op.

I’m fine with the delays for the modes, it gives more time for 343 to polish the other modes.

Well we’re in a pandemic that caused the game to be delayed. The last thing they want to do is delay the game again. So they decided to focus on building the core of the game and delaying co op campaign and forge which was lower on the priority list clearly. Delaying the co op campaign is a positive to me because the halo story is mainly the solo story of master chief. So solo play is encouraged for a first playthrough.

As for forge, this is a disappointment. Since Halo 3, forge has become a crucial pillar in the Halo ecosystem. The decision to launch without forge was the decision to release the game unfinished. How? Well, without forge you can’t make custom maps. No custom maps means no custom games. No custom games means the casual fanbase will get bored and move on from infinite. How many will stick around waiting 6 months for forge to come out, then another month or 2 for the community to build a healthy variety of maps to enjoy.

Not having forge also greatly harms the HCS program. Players won’t have CTF warmup or Octogon to get them warm on the sticks and improve their aim/skill against those of similar or higher skill level.

Third party run tournaments won’t be able to tweak maps for their settings. For example, $2s (2v2 matches for money) require removal of powerups and other minor tweaks to make them eligible.

This are severe restrictions on the halo community at launch. I hope they can at least expedite a basic forge a lot sooner after launch so we can ensure these restrictions and the damage they will cause, is minimalized.

I’m a bit gutted about co-op because my original plan was to play through campaign with my partner at launch (as she only recently fell in love with Halo) but it’s not going to ruin launch for me as I’m still gonna be plenty busy playing campaign solo and playing multiplayer.

I also think that expectations for Halo games are sometimes unreasonably high and unrealistic. In this modern age (where game development takes much longer than it used to) games don’t ship with huge open/semi open world campaigns, a huge multiplayer mode and a huge map editor/customiser all in one package at launch. If you look at all these big huge AAA exclusive games, The Last of Us 2, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima etc. none of them ship with multiplayer or co-op (if it comes it’s added later).

Not only does game development take longer now, they’ve also had to deal with the disruption of Covid. People need to give 343 a bit of leniency and not hold them to unrealistic standards that we don’t hold other huge AAA game developers to these days. Remember how Destiny 1 launched?

It will permanently leave a bad taste in my mouth and i wont enjoy the campaign as much as even halo 5’s (which i have played like twice since launch) because atleast in halo 5 those co-op moments made it fun.

I’m waiting till co-op is released to even consider buying the campaign. Its embarassing that infinite is still launching in such a haphazard state.

I can deal with it.

It is simple, if they have to delay campaign coop, delay the entire campaign and release the MP alone on Dec. 8. I’m not a big MP fan so this is a no go until campaign coop is ready…which by then the story will have, almost certainly, have been spoiled, so I will play it eventually but will be in no hurry.

Co-op is a major staple of the series. I will be fine without it, but I would honestly prefer another delay IMO.

If I weren’t already soured by the coating system and general MTX red flags, the delay of features would have done it. This shows us where their priorities are, trend chasing and revenue generation. I’m probably not going to bother with Infinite at all, if this is the game they wanted to make, I’ll spend my time on other things :man_shrugging:
