I dont understand why there will not be co-op thats the whole reason i have always played halo since combat evolved in 2001. What is the community thoughts on that when you have games like tom clancy wildlands, divison, and breakpoint that has open world games that are co-op.
It’s alright, you can play it 3 months after. Won’t be long.
Loads of reasons why it could be, the fact it’s on a bunch of different consoles and PC crossplay is just one. We haven’t even seen proper single player stuff yet so we have no idea what scope they are aiming for.
Different games have co-op but they also have different requirements and expectations.
Who knows exactly why it was delayed, but my guess is it’s something to do with difficulty in getting cross-platform and cross-gen co-op to work. The campaign might scale very differently on different machines, such that it’s complicated to get a Series X player and a One S player in the same co-op session and get them to play nice.
Whereas cross-gen for the multiplayer is a bit simpler, you don’t have to deal with huge numbers of AI, streaming in different chunks of the huge levels, etc
Personally I think it’s unacceptable to even think about releasing a game without it’s CORE mechanics polished and in the game. It should be delayed until it’s ready. But there is too much cuckery in all gaming communities for that sort of legitimate effort to be put in by AAA devs. Gamers love to be used and abused.
I apologize for the spice, but it’s true.

It’s spelt cookery, but I’m not sure what food has to do with Halo other than the main character being Master Chef.

Look at it a different way: they could just delay the game an extra 3 months, but instead they’ve gone “hey, single player is actually ready - instead of us delaying the game again, lets give them what we can, to tide them over until co-op is ready.” and you’re just like “omg no this is absolutely damn outrageous”. If you really would rather have nothing, over single player campaign and multiplayer, then you’re just “cutting your nose off to spite your face”. Secondly, you can have that - wait 3 months before buying the game, and then ta-da! - you have co-op campaign on your Day 1.
Thats true zappy i guess it has become tradition for my best friend and me when halo came out since combat evolved to play coop on heroic on day 1 till it is beat, been looking forward to the game for a long time just ready for it
I totally understand. My friends and I were doing the same for the almost every Halo game.
I’m okay with the delay as long as 343i doesn’t ruin the campaign. Really excited for it.
According to a leak, if you believe it, they apparently don’t have a concept to make co-op work from a mechanical perspective. Seems to have less to do with optimization and more to do with the fact that they don’t know how to add value to the campaign by adding co-op.
Yeah, I’m pretty sad about it but it’s at least nice to know we actually get co-op/splitscreen this time, even if it’s late. Better late than never.
With the covid thing i’m not surprised co-op isn’t there at launch, and i’m happy to wait for it, at least we know it’s coming. Same as forge. I’ll no doubt happily play through campaign by myself for few months anyway
Yeah, it’s kinda sad, but we still have those 3 months to enjoy some other features of the game while we wait
