No closure after 6 years

So Halo 4 was the last time we had closure in Halo. Halo 5 ended on a cliff hanger. Infinite seems like the first chapter of a serious of books. I guess I’m frustrated because we waited for 6 years and the Cortana arc was just thrown to the side. What add group is writing? Hey! Look at the squirrel!

I know right. I didn’t like the story of Halo 5 so much but it’s a shame they threw us to the side. I wanted the reclaimer saga. They even said they were working on it on the day Halo 5 launched

If you read more into the lore of Halo, you’d be excited for what could be coming in DLC.

Na man. We needed a full game on the last part of the reclaimer saga. Dlc won’t cut it. The abilites we’re a big part of the story

If you only read the lore…

You guys are missing my point. I actually have read all of the halo books. I very much enjoy the halo universe. When I play the game though I want it to lead some where and have closure. Halo 1,2,3. Great story with closure. Halo 4 good story with closure and set up for Halo 5. Halo 5 poorly written with no closure at all with a set up for Halo 6. Infinite, let’s just pretend we didn’t make halo 4 or 5. No one will notice. I wanted to see the end of the Cortana arc. I think a lot of us did.

I notice and I don’t even like Halo 5s story. I would’ve much rathered them finsih of the trilogy as promised and THEN move on from there

Not to mention the non book reading world was introduced to blue team and one again, no idea where they are.

Exactly. Blue team is huge and we didn’t even get enough of them in 5. Halo 6 could’ve been the chance to really make blue team shine

I’m pretty sure we are going to get more story content in the form of dlcs

Infinite is the first game in a reboot. Not the time for closure.

As for Cortana’s arc… the more I think about it the happier I am with the way they dealt with it. Cortana’s fate had been painted into a corner - and some sort of self sacrifice was the only redemptive path.

This way she passes the mantle to a new AI and we don’t have to deal with Chief spending a whole game trying to convince her to come back from the dark side.

It being open ended didn’t bother me so much given that the campaign is designed to be expanded. The thing that irritated me was that 343i continues to make these games in a fashion that requires EU knowledge for much of if to make sense. Infinite isn’t as bad at this as 4 or 5, but given that it is supposed to be concluding the events of 5 there is a whole lot that the game either hints at or ignores entirely.

The first 3 games did this in a fashion where the books COULD be used to fill gaps, but they were never required reading to understand what was going on in the games. 343i Halo titles are confusing as hell to people who have no EU knowledge, or a friend that can bring them up to speed.

You shouldn’t have to read six hundred novels to have a coherent story in the game. The game is what’s important.

Halo use to be a great story telling game, but now ever since Halo 4 it has become a Scooby Doo episode where at the end of the show when they finally catch the bad guy and pull the mask off only to show another mask, then another and another until finally you get down to the real face, revealing a long line villains that make no sense at all.

Darwi I guess we see it differently. I enjoy a good campaign with a good story. Halo 1 - 3 was 6 years and that seemed like a long time for an ending. Now we haven’t had an ending since halo 4 9 years ago. Sorry I don’t find that acceptable.

I jalust don’t feel like 343 has their stuff together. They are all over the place. Halo 4 - 6 was suppose to be an arc to itself. Infinite takes 6 years to make. 6 years! And yet it’s not finished. They couldn’t even have proper playlist at launch. Not to mention CO op, forge, etc… If I’m head of Microsoft someone is getting their butt in a sling.

but halo didn’t need a reboot, besides the was more like “Halo Infinite The Retcon-ing”

No that was H5, H4 had a much more clear-cut story and if you read the legendary terminals in H3 you kinda had an idea who the Didact was

No I meant Halo 4.

At first, the bad guys were Insurrectionists>>then Covenant>> then Flood>> then Forerunners/Prometheans>> then Cortana/Prometheans>> now the Banished >> then the Endless… hence why I said a Scooby Doo episode where we keep pulling masks off to reveal a new villain each time.
