I just hit onyx in combo and have nothing to do now is there a champ rank coming soon I have no reason to grind without it.

And yes, Champion is coming. But hopefully they do something different to Halo 5 - which was the top 200 Onyx ranks - and Iām assuming abandoned because it is a flawed process.
I donāt think the MMR, on a scale of 1-1800+, is simply accurate enough. Weāve seen how everyoneās number oscillates +/- 50 points or so around their actual rank depending on a bunch of recent results.
You certainly canāt look at a player who is 1800, for example, and say with any confidence they are better than someone who is 1795.
And the problem is certainly going to be amplified across server regions. I imagine there is even less correlation of MMR skill from one side of the world to another.
Donāt get me wrong. ELO systems (of which TrueSkill2 is based) can be very effective rank sorters. But they need quality data. Like regular tournaments - where all the best players in world come together and play each other.
That just doesnāt happen when you hop onto your local server and play whoever is dished up to you.
And we know that your CSR can fluctuate on the whims of a few wins or losses. You are going to have players drifting into āChampionshipā status, not because they are genuinely in the best 200 players of the world, but because they four stacked with a Plat/Gold smurf and a Silver sandbagging account - and ground out as many +1 CSR games as they needed to get there.
Maybe a minimum CSR to get to? Or a top % of players (as opposed to a raw number). Or maybe some requirement of being a certain level for a certain amount of time?
What I would do is let match-making do itās thingā¦ but if/when it finds a game with 8 evenly matched Onyx players over a certain MMR (eg. 1800), and all with acceptable pings, then announce that this match is for Championship points. The winners take the pointsā¦ and if you get āxā number of points in the season you are awarded Championship status.

Unofficial Champ is around 1,920 CSR for Crossplay so you could always work on that.

Was there some sort of loophole in H5 to reach Champ? I have encountered quite a few people who attained Champ but range between high diamond to low Onyx in Infinite.
As far as Iām aware you just had to be top 200 on the leader boardā¦ I didnāt reach it myself fell short at Onyx but I watched my brother grind SWAT and nab a champ badge!

Kind of, as the population dwindled anyone who hit Onyx first would get a Champ rank. To stop so many people getting it they made it so you had to get a minimum of 1,600 CSR and be in top 200 to get champ rank. Some playlists recently had like 4 people in champ for ages due to how difficult it was to get games of Rumble FFA. Only 4 people had CSR above 1,600.
1,600 isnāt exactly difficult for most Onyx players to get if they just play a lot of games towards the start of the season in most playlists as in previous seasons they may have higher like 1,800 CSR so they gain CSR rapidly in a new season towards the 1,600 as the system wants them back at 1,800. Hope that makes sense.
Youād think anyone capable of that should easily hit Onyx in Infinite, but I guess they do play very different and some great H5 players may not be as adaptable as others. Itās very fast paced, relies heavily on movement and you get buckets of aim assist in H5.

You just got 1500 Onyx and you want another rank?
You are in the bottom 5% of Onyx right now. Try to get to 1750 and see how that goes for you. If they implement a champion rank for the top few hundred players, you will need 2000+ MMR.
Congrats on Onyx, but donāt kid yourself: you are nowhere near the top.
If u make it to onyx at the start of the season before any1 else does that gives you champion. But most of those dudes get kicked out after a day
I got my onyx from just playing two days during Easter when I was back from college.

Admittedly there is a giant leap in skill gap between the start of Onyx and the top 200. Most of those 200 will be comprised of the paid professionals.

Is this post a troll, or what? The goal of your post is to push for the implementation of a new rank, correct? Well, raise your MMR first, so that you would even be a prospective candidate for such a rank. Only about 500 points to go!

Bro what? Why would I want to grind 500 more points for if there no Champion rank I just donāt have any motivation to play because thereās no higher rank then where Iām at. Also I donāt think u need to be a champion tier player to advocate for a rank. Maybe I just want to look at the leaderboards in game to see who is the best player??

Just go on halotracker, you can see the top 200 players.
You can also see where your rank puts you so can set a goal for yourself like be in the top 5,000.
