no bloom + no auto-aim + no projectiles = no more problems

It seems to me that the current state of Halo is an utterly confused mess. We have the poor buggered developers endlessly trying to tweak a bunch of different systems and parameters in pursuit of an unobtainable goal of pleasing everybody at once. As a result we have 100% bloom verses 85% bloom verses no bloom verses everything else at once.

Having one variable system (Bloom) interacting with another variable system (auto aim) in an environment where lag can be a factor is just going to lead to maddeningly inconsistent results.

Sometimes the only solution to a knot this tangled is to cut it.

I propose that we first remove all bloom and spread from most of the non-power weapons. We then remove all aim assist malarky; no more camera adhesion, no more curving magnetic bullets or whatever. Finally for all but the plasma weapons we make everything hitscan.

The result? My shots go where I aim them. Period. No more pacing/spamming, no more swipe snipe gaming the auto aim system, no more host rape. Balancing the standard weapons is going to be almost as easy as ROF x Damage.

That would be an awful idea, fixing the problem by destroying the core gameplay isn’t the solution.

This is great. I really hope some plasma weapons become Hitscan such as a turret and the rest has a really high bullet travel time and we Also need smaller reticules so it’s easier to tell where the center of the reticule is. Other than that this is perfect for basic weapons. The only people who think this isn’t a good idea a bad players who rely on these crutches. So far in every halo game the newer one has a smaller skill gap then the last and these changes will actually make halo 4 more skillful instead of the opposite direction.

I dont mean to be that guy, but you’re saying the skill gap is decreasing in every game and that the main reason for that is the auto aim and bloom (since you said with those changes halo 4 would be more skillful).

Well ummm… Halo 2 to Halo 3. Lots less auto aim, no more bullet magnetism. So…

You do realize that Halo 3 had a random spread and slower movement speed right?

I loved Halo 3 but H3 took steps backwards.

Auto aim needs to go period. When I say that I mean it needs to go down to the lowest possible level that can be used on a console. (because we use controllers we will need some auto aim, but it does not need to be the level that we have had in halo 2 through reach)
