I tried it and it didn’t feel like I thought it would, I know its not the final version and I am disappointed in how it plays. The dmr overpowers all other weapons as it stands in my book.I will wait til the final tu is out b4 I flame the bloomless dmr playlist.Session dataSession data
No it does not. Learn how to out play the DMR now. People just don’t seem to understand Halo now.
Ive seen a lot of people tonight say that the skill gap will now flourish due to the “new awesome zero bloom” but the gameplay has never been more broken; armor abilities are no longer used for strategic gameplay and combat now boils down to “who shot first” due to slow acceleration speed of spartans causing poor strafing. In my opinion, “vanilla reach” plays way better than zero bloom spamalot does. I only thank the forerunners that zero bloom wont replace actual matchmaking.
> You just can’t aim and don’t want to play smart. AA’s = tactical? LOL!!! It’s a FPS. Not kiddy barny and friends.
waffle:
bloom required more cognitive thought than “zero bloom spamalot” ever will; bloom adds another element to the equation, pacing yourself and calming down, something that is difficult for many people when under stress, and just like not rushing, pacing yourself requires experience and skill.
Dont believe me? Ill show you:
- get onyx in arena
- play “spamalot” for 2 - 3 hours
- come back to arena
- lose your first 5 games of the night
I disagree, I found many ways to combat the DMR today. Ways ranging from swapping out my weapons, Sneaking up to the DMR for a close range attack, AR, DMR, and Magnum. Its much better now that skill is the prevalent force in the battleground
This was how Halo was originally meant to be played. If you aim better than your opponent, you will win your DMR duels.
yes, it is going to take some getting used to as all of us are still used to just “spamming” shots in hopes that we will win DMR duels and we often live longer because your opponent can’t get that perfect 5-shot kill. Now, people who know how to aim well can get the 5 shot kill easily.
If they did ANY tweaking to it, maybe adjust the rate of fire of the DMR just a tad bit. Other than that, I think it is working out very well…

Just because you didn’t like it? Okay that’s understandable, it’s called playing Halo. It will take time for many to really get used to playing it after Bungie gave us garbage that is the loldefaultReach settings.
It’s not final anyways, but for me i enjoy the bloomless weapons. Less BS and more skill, something kids don’t understand and sadly will go on this forum and complain how they are getting raped (under the guise that bloomless settings are OP). Not pointing the finger at you but it is the truth.
Just because you or a group of friends are getting owned doesn’t mean the settings are bad. Sure they could always be perfected (the whole point of the Beta Hoppers) but alas, we are fed a small treat by the grace of BS Angel and company. Be thankful.
Thanks 343
This will never happen again:

I’m watching the pros and what you have said has already been debunked by them.
If you knew what you are talking about, you don’t have to pace with bloom. The FACT is, people who can aim better win with zero bloom. Since the bloom gets bigger, it is way easier to spam body shots because now you can spray and pray the DMR because the reticle is easier to aim with. No bloom = harder to aim. If you miss shots thats your problem. Not the games. It’s like the AR with bloom. It’s just shoot the body. Nice try though.

This^^^ just proved my point.
Agreed, the no bloom boils down to ‘who shot first’, it feels more like CoD.

son, I was 20% onyx last season and Ive been playing halo for quite some time.
the only “pros” I see saying arena is broken are the ones that spawn kill with power vehicles on hemmorage.
and yes, I know bloom as it is breaks gameplay at close - mid range, but 85% should be a good tweak, gameplay at mid range works in this game, and if you dont believe me, I will run train on you in 4v4 with my buddies.

That is not how it worked in any other Halo and this is no different. PEOPLE MISS SHOTS! I am watching pro gameplay now and I have not seen this happen. I have seen plenty of people get turned on! It’s sad trying to put logic in peoples heads.

Bloom you will because I am not going to sit around and make tea while I wait for my gun in a syfy arena shooter to reset. No bloom you will get worked. The game is more competitive and skillful when the bullets go where you want. Nobody ever complained about no bloom in any other halo. FACT!
And arena proves nothing. It’s no where near competitive and you can still spam with a huge reticle with the DMR. You will miss shots with no bloom and get worked because you can’t aim and want to act like you can.
No bloom is the best singular thing that has happened to Reach so far.
Halo is almost back to Halo now, well done 343!

I also love the bleedthrough damage.
Does anyone here know if magnum and DMR are still 3shot beatdowns on 75% melee damage?
This quoting stuff is getting ridiculous:
@ waffles:
You have a lot to learn about what skill means, its about having it in the thumbs and the head. If a player knows a map he should be able to out maneuver a seasoned player, being good at a game is both precision, knowledge, and reach adds a new element to the table which is pacing. Calming down in a heated battle to win a mid range or long range battle. Bloom also contributes to the knowledge factor because its about knowing when to spam and when not to, the “zero bloom” takes these elements away, effectively reducing the skill gap to the thumbs and taking the brain out of the equation.
Reach’s skill gap has been larger than that of any other game because the game takes a refined type of skill that some 10 year halo vets have yet to master. But waffles, my stats dont lie. Im experienced and this is my honest opinion.
Dont take this the wrong way, I would be mad if the title update was not included with CEA, new and diverse things is what makes this awesome game so great. I love all the armor abilities, and I love all the maps, I love all the gametypes (even the objective ones), and I love firefight, I love forge, I love campaign, I love the wide array of well balanced weapons this game has to offer, I love the mechanics of this game as well, and I will love the title update. Its not that any game mechanics are superior to others, its just from my perspective, vanilla reach is more competitive that “spamalot”, and I wouldnt have halo any other way.
And dont get me wrong, Im a vet of a decade and I paid 60$ for reach, it irritates me when people say “reach sucks” or “reach is for noobs” because they dont understand how to effectively play it, I paid 60$ for reach, not halo 3.5, and when halo 4 comes out, it better not be like reach, because that is what so many franchises screw up on, each new game is the last game remade. Thats why I love halo.

Since both gun share the same bullet damage (range, bullet capacity, draw speed, and ROF are different) I assume that it’s 3 shot beatdowns.
I also love the headshot bleedthroughs. You can’t get them by simply aiming for the head from what i’ve experienced. Three body shots weaken shields, the 4th shot is fatal. If you just aim for the head, you will the regular 5SHK that the DMR is known for.
