In this interview Frank said that his focus was on shipping the game, that we would have heard about a beta, and a beta would interrupt the game being shipped.
Not making a beta would be a HUGE mistake imo

Agreed.
Agreed.
Agreed, but, if they can keep it up and deliver bug-free game, I wont’ be mad at all.
I still think they could release a MP DEMO (not beta) on 1-2 maps for Demonstartion purpose later this year…
atleast I hope it.
not buying this game if theres no beta. perks, random weapon spawns and call of duty progression system are not what Halo is about. theres a reason why reach is practically dead and not embraced by the competitive community. they’re trying to cater too much to the bad and casual gamers instead of hardcore halo fans

The point of the beta is to find bugs and to receive feedback. Taking out the beta is taking out a portion of development.
I disagree, a few hundred thousand people can find a lot more bugs and balance issues than a 100 people.
Yes. You heard it right. NO BETA. For gods sake. Use the search function.
Thread close please.
You people are so -Yoinking!- critical. It’s a game, it’ll be awesome if you don’t like it then don’t buy it. it looks amazing. Im so sick of seeing people say it looks like reach, omg progression/upgrades like wtf? it’s called evolving and adding things into the game for a better exprience, to make it last get the -Yoink- over it.

Reach is NOT dead. There are still many people online. At least 100,000+ a day.
Just because there isn’t going to be a public Beta doesn’t mean that the game is going to be full of bugs and glitches.

We dont know if theres all the items you stated and like people said there may still be a beta just not announced yet
> Just because there isn’t going to be a public Beta doesn’t mean that the game is going to be full of bugs and glitches.
That’s what Infinity ward said after they realized people would still buy their game in droves even with tons of bugs. ALA MW2. We all know how that turned out.

No, it really isn’t. What we consider to be a “beta” is actually the earliest form of the release candidate, a nearly finished product. A public beta actually takes up production time, and most of the data received can be acquired from internal tests. It’s sad that we’ll see no beta, but it’s not the big deal people are making it out to be.
I think excluding a public beta is a big mistake as betas for other games have proven to be extremely valuable, taking into account hundreds of thousands of different connections from around the world. I don’t believe there can be a proper stress test on the servers either unless there is a public beta.
However, if 343i ship this game in a very polished near-bug free status then I won’t be annoyed, but if it all goes pear shaped at launch then 343i have some explaining to do.
> Just because there isn’t going to be a public Beta doesn’t mean that the game is going to be full of bugs and glitches.
I agree with you, however a Beta would have helped me see what I would be getting into. Now, we won’t be able to know what the progression system or perks will feel like/do. I want to trust 343i, I really do! But hearing about these things has put a damper on my spirits.
I really want Halo 4 to do well. This news of no Beta just means that I am going to have to mass amounts of research before making my decision on whether to buy the game.
It is either we get a beta and the release date gets pushed back (IDK how long) or…
We don’t get a beta and we get Halo 4 earlier. What would you want?
I personally would like a beta and test it, and make sure that Halo 4 can be the best it can. If they don’t make a beta and don’t test out the new features, well we will see how good/bad the game is when it comes out.

This is why I want a beta and also I don’t need a beta. I want Halo 4 this year, so having a beta is most likely out of the question. However, the publicity that it would generate from a beta that plays really well would be crazy! To me, the beta is more or less a marketing technique to get people interested in it.
There won’t be a public beta but he stated they are doing internal testing. So they are still testing the game throughout every phase of development and they have a huge team working on it. The game will be amazing, don’t worry.
