No beta? SERIOUSLY?!?!

343 this is your first real Halo game, and this is where you need to show the same commitment and care for the franchise and its fans that Bungie did. The lack of a beta for this game feels like a slap in the face to many long time fans. Games have showed time and time again that a Beta finds problems that internal testing simply cannot hope to ever find. The amount of man hours, discussions, and ideas that come out of a public Beta trumps internal testing in every regard.

You NEED to make time for this, especially with all the changes you’ve been talking about. The fans need to see a commitment from you, so far, I’m not seeing it.

They’re too busy polishing the game and making the best experience for all of us. If they had more time, I’m sure they would. But if they are confident that their game will live up to the expectations, no need for beta.

Halo 2 didn’t have a beta and it was a great game

good. won’t be ruined by a few dbags.

Would prefer they wait for everybody to play the game at once and adjust with patches from there.

Then delay the game. I feel a beta for this sort of game is absolutely vital.

100’s of multiplayer games have been perfect without betas. Just because there is no beta dosen’t mean it’s going to be a glitch fest. 343i’s job is to make games at very least you can expect one without glitches.

THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

I’m kind of glad there isn’t a beta. Sue me.

I trust their judgement and have the utmost confidence that 343i will deliver an awesome Halo game.

The two best Halo games didn’t have a beta. See a pattern. A beta is only for casual players to complain that the game isn’t “balanced”.

Image if Halo CE had a beta. Casuals would have torn it to shreds.

> Halo 2 didn’t have a beta and it was a great game

Yah it was great, but it was also plagued with glitches, so your example is laughable.

Betas a GREAT way of stress testing the games in all it’s elements. There is only so far their studio can test the game, and putting the game in the hands of MILLIONS of testers is OBVIOUSLY an effective and cheap way of working out the kinks.

I’m pretty shocked that there isn’t going to be a beta, I’ve been playing the Tribes: Ascend Beta for MONTHS now and have seen that many tweaks, re-adjustment and complete overhauls it’s astounding, and the game is MUCH better off for it.

I think about what reach would’ve been like without a Beta. DMR had even MORE bloom, you could spam AL over ten times in one charge. Camo was even more ridiculus, jump height and base player speed was even LOWER, and that’s just a few of the examples.

So why on earth a studio who doesn’t even have the balls to apply a TU across the board without a ‘Beta’ Would Release a full retail release without one is just crazy to me.

I’d like to see one so I can play Halo 4 until it’s release date. Aside my own selfish reasons, I don’t see it to be a 100% necessity to be open to the public.

Not many games are perfect upon their release date so they get updated when the glitches and bugs are found by the public or designers by playing them. Thats the beauty of Xbox LIVE.

I don’t trust any developer to release a good multiplayer game that functions day 1, with out running massive multiplayer beta test. Take a look at almost every single FPS that comes out. Honestly the talk of polish and all this other BS about making the set release date worries me. Too many developers have gotten comfortable with releasing AAA multiplayer games that don’t work right when people get home and first start playing them.

It means nothing if the game looks and plays amazing if the servers aren’t up and running right in the first week the game is released. It will be the death of almost any game and if you think the Forum is alive now…wait and see how much hell is raised if that happens.

A week of server testing with about 350k people should be enough. Of course that is a huge under taking, and easier said than done, But it should have been taken into account before.

Spoken in the voice of immaturity. You just forgot to add noob and other terms of childish insulting nature.

“Beta is the software development phase following alpha. It generally begins when the software is feature complete. Software in the beta phase will generally have many more bugs in it than completed software, as well as speed/performance issues. The focus of beta testing is reducing impacts to users, often incorporating usability testing. The process of delivering a beta version to the users is called beta release and this is typically the first time that the software is available outside of the organization that developed it.”

Get your facts straight before you start talking like you actually know how to make a video game.

Hey Did Halo 1 have a Beta?

No, and look how it turned out.

Look at Reach did it have a Beta?

Yes, and look how it turned out. (if you catch my drift.)

Beta’s in the console world are nothing more than a demo. yes they receive some info that otherwise could not have been received. They are usually used for stress testing the servers more than anything else though. Beta’s also take up huge amounts of time in the development stage that might not always equal a better product to an extent that it balances out the amount of money it cost to prepare a beta, collect feed back on said beta and delay the development of the rest of the game because they didn’t have all hands on deck for the full release of the game

I WANT A BETA DON’T GET COCKY 343i

People like me got caught in the nostalgia during the Reach beta. I was so enthralled at the idea of a new Halo game, that I forgot to really speak out against key game elements that were being changed. If there was a beta for Halo 4, I would be sure not to make the same mistake again of not saying anything. I think a beta would be useful.

That still doesn’t prove anything. Luckily, the industry is run by people who have experience in the proper fields and don’t listen to nonsense like this.

As usual, if it were truly a broken game as soooo many claim it to be, they would not play it at ALL. I see more than enough “Currently Playing Halo: Reach” or “Last Played Halo: Reach” from naysayers.

The pot is not only calling the kettle black, they’re using megaphones.

Meh, sure a Beta would be fun, but I will still pre-order and buy the game. Now i’m going back to re-watch Game of thrones on blu-ray, so epic.

I can’t believe this many fans don’t see a need, I’m honestly shocked by this.
