No barriers? GOOD

I wanted to take a second to appreciate how they seem to be building Halo Infinite on the idea of exploration. I do not know the full scope, as I have yet to play the game, but they’re at least going in the right direction.

One major problem I have had since Reach is those blasted countdown barriers spread liberally across the maps, I am hoping those days are well behind us. I’ve always been an advocate of their removal, so let’s hope they’re gone for good.

It also seems like this new exploration will have a practical purpose. Hidden items and new paths will be spread around the maps. I think that’s a very good thing as well, it will encurge new kinds of ways to play.

Yeah I think with Reach you were seeing them pushing the limits of what the hardware could handle. I think the Intel tab will be a great way to encourage players to explore though.

Well, they did mention an “Out of Bounds” message somewhere near the end of the update. I mean, yeah, a world has to end somewhere.

Nevertheless, I don’t think we’ll be running into that one as often as we did in previous titles.

I figured since the maps weren’t true open world that they’d need some out of bounds message, but at least it wont be like Reach where I can’t even stand on a rock next to my base for more then 10 seconds.

Honestly, I’m just glad I can explore again without have a time limit.

I agree! This quote just proves how you can play this game however you wish

> but more than any previous game, we are breaking down the walls to create a more open play space offering exploration and discovery. What is that odd tower in the distance, I see a smoke signal over that ridge, what is the source of the odd hum? Go find out. There are entire stories to be discovered. I often describe the experience offered by Zeta Halo as “Halo unleashed” because it is all the experiences and stories you love from Halo presented in a world where you have so much more freedom to explore and discover unexpected adventures.

I absolutely love this quote. The freedom, the curiosity, the stories, everything. This halo is gonna be one we will all remember

It just further confirms to me that this game is going to be very similar to Gears 5, which is a good thing. Halo deserves an entry like this.

As good as that quotation is, I prefer the restatement elsewhere in the piece

> For Infinite we are working to deliver on the ‘promise’ of the original in ways that limitations of the time would not allow the team to fully explore. Zeta Halo invites exploration and discovery, the stories to be found, and player agency in how you utilize a robust sandbox of tools to overcome a mission or encounter.

Already setting us up to look deeper for extra tidbits of information by exploring beyond the obvious!

It would be cool if in the “E-W” direction the boundary would be the edge of the ring. Have we ever actually seen the edge of a ring up close? It would be pretty cool to traverse to the edge and run along, it flirting with falling off into space.

That would be very cool. Directions would go back to the old-style ‘Up-spin’, ‘Down-spin’
