This has been a problem for me since the beginning of Halo: Reach. I’ve been in situations where I would be shooting someone and I would want to pick up a health pack because my health was going down to red and I wanted to have an advantaged against my opponent. Other times I would just want to reload my gun but instead I would reload my gun and pick up a health pack at the same time. Farther into the game there maybe some weapons laying by the med pack and I would be cycling through the weapons instead of just getting the med pack. I know the reasons why they didn’t want people to pick it up the heath pack automatically like if a player was sprinting past a med pack and get it. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it would make Halo: Reach have a more “classic” feel to it.
What if you teammate needs the med-pack more than you?
> What if you teammate needs the med-pack more than you?
I would be hearing a call out from that player requesting a heath pack or he would get there first. It worked in Halo: Combat Evolved so I guess it would work too.
I like the way it is now. Otherwise you could sprint past them for a quick recharge and get away. It can create issues, but I think it’s a necessary evil.

skill gap. thats why it should remain how it is.
also, i believe you should be able to pick it up to start your shields recharging WITHOUT the requirement of missing at least 1 bar of health.
What if I want to save it for later?

I don’t know where skill would come into play when it comes to picking up a heath pack. To me it’s just frustrating when I’m just trying to pick up a heath pack but instead I’m just cycling through the pile of weapons that are laying on top of it. I don’t remember hearing anyone in Halo: CE complaining about the how the heath pack was an automatic pick up. It’s sorta common sense to make it automatic pick up. Right now in Reach there’s a variant of Oddball call “Classic Oddball” where the player would automatically pick up the ball. In the end this makes no sense to where they would make the player automatically pick up an oddball but not make the player automatically pick up a heath pack.

picking up the oddball automatically can hurt you. picking up a health pack always helps you.
how does it not make sense that pressing a button inherently takes more skill than having the same end-result without having to press a button?
the reason no one complained about the health pack in CE was because it had never been done before in halo since it was the first halo game. no one gave 2 BLAM!s about health packs because the rest of the game was so god-tier incredible it was near impossible to find any faults with it.
its not common sense to pick up a health pack either. when you run over a health pack in real life you dont instantly grab whats inside without thinking about it an instantly heal yourself. pressing one button isnt even that big of a deal. it adds skill gap, and rewards players who make effective use out of their time, instead of just insta-winning (or gaining a huge advantage) in a gun battle because you remembered which wall the health pack was on and you simply backed into it, or strafed into it.
you should have to KNOW where the health pack is AND press a button to pick it up. this way the players that get them are the players that DESERVE them, and people wont be able to gain an advantage from walking into a random wall with a health pack that they didnt even know existed, and didnt plan on picking up.
also. its not hard at all. im pretty sure you can hold the button before you reach the health pack too. and doesnt the health pack get picked up before you have an option to pick up a weapon below it? just practice it.
So you are suggesting that everyone has the old ability of getting the health pack when their health is only one bar decreased and being allowed to pick it up automatically. Even though your ally is rushing to it and you just happen to be next to it when you hide from gun fire and you pick it up. And so the other person can complain about you stealing the health pack when they needed it most. Then this whole cycle of adding and removing the auto feature will happen.
Holding down B isn’t that difficult…(I use Bumper Jumper).
It would be nice if you could make it so Healthpacks won’t regen your shields.

It’s basically so everyone isn’t standing or constantly running over that spot.
It’s there if you really need it. Not for excessive convenience of having full bar health at all times. In terms, you could just stand on it and constantly keep refilling your health.
Not too fair now is it?
> It would be nice if you could make it so Healthpacks won’t regen your shields.
Shields regen automatically regardless. All it does is speed it up a matter of a second or two. Not that big a deal.

I’m not saying it’s hard picking up a health pack. I’m saying that it’s frustrating.

I don’t know weather your defending Reach’s Heath pack deal or talking crap about it.

I just going to leave this discussion alone because I stopped taking you serious when you tried comparing Halo: Reach to real life. I’d rather have something that makes no sense but it’s fun as hell rather than something that is close to being “real life” but is frustrating/not fun.

Not to sound like a jerk but get over it. It’s not that big of a concern.
I already put it to you logically that anyone can just stand on/next to the damn thing and keep regenerating health. People would just stand near it half the match guaranteed.
What I say is what I said before the Reach Beta came out : : :
N O H E A L T H P A C K S, waste of code and completely impracticle in MM, best to have recharge like in H2 & H3.
