I see you’re a little late to the party.
lol yea, this has been a known fact. Trust me, everyone is happy about that.
really I’m disappointed…

Yup it’s gone.
Good riddance.
So few people managed to understand how it worked that it had to be removed.
I salute you Armor Lock.

Incorrect
It’s because we understood Armor Lock is why it getting the well deserved axe. Most didn’t like bad players using it as crutch or good players abusing it.
More importantly, it interrupted the flow of combat and increased kill times even further. Halo Reach is the slowest of the Halo’s and Armor Lock is one it’s main contributors.
Doesn’t matter, jet pack, sprint and camo are still in it, and they are even worse.
AAs should not be in Halo 4. They add nothing positive to the gameplay.
Yeah they said AL isn’t in H4 but they didn’t say there won’t be anything similar to it, did they?

Stand 5 feet away from Armor Locked person, AL pops, shoot person in the face. And yes I could kill them with an axe too.
Armor Lock in, Armor Lock out, it really doesn’t matter to me as Armor Lock never really bothered me as it has some people.
I see it as this; It had it’s benefits and drawbacks like every other Armor Ability had, and had it’s weaknesses that made it’s user vulnerable just like every other Armor Ability.
Just like the Equipment in Halo 3, there was no one “thing” that made the game-play broken (or saved it). Everything has(d) it’s benefits and it’s detriments.
So Armor Lock not making it into Halo 4 doesn’t surprise me, and not for the reason that most people think. I haven’t ever believed or experienced the notion that Armor Lock was brokenly overpowered, it could (can) be beaten easily. What Armor Lock does is it slows down the game, but no more than Sprint helped to speed up the game. They balance.
Now, it’s no secret that 343 wants a faster playing Halo. Removing Armor Lock from the possible Armor Abilities achieves that goal. See? Everything can be explained.
I don’t mourn the removal of Armor Lock, but I don’t champion it either. I am however, curious.
I’m very curious to see how “Forerunner Vision” plays out. I understand that it’s in there mainly as a way to keep people from camping, but if done wrong it can easily break the game play much in the same way that people claimed that Armor Lock has done to Halo: Reach.
So I’m curious. I definitely want to get my hands on Halo 4, but once I get it in my sweaty anticipatory palms (then I dry it and place it lovingly in my Xbox), you can bet that Forerunner Vision will be one of the first things that I try to fool around with.
Just like I did with all of the Armor Abilities in Reach, and the Equipment in Halo 3 before that.
But mostly I’m just curious to see how this plays out.

Team comes in, finishes you off despite you backing off and waiting it out. You are robbed of a kill after out playing the noob but you end up being punished for it.
It makes no sense.
With the removal of the crutch, you will die when you need to and i feel sorry for the players who have a massive amount of rejection (not 300, not 200 but 3000+) and come Halo 4, will not know what to do.
Yup, it’s been confirmed for awhile. =P
Glad it’s gone.
I wasn’t a huge fan of AAs but I knew they’d make their way into Halo 4. I don’t mind sprint. While I didn’t mind the past halo games not having sprint, it never really made sense why Spartan’s couldn’t sprint. Evade was also a great AA.
Anyways, all the AAs have their ups and downs. It’s not too hard to see someone in camo and jetpackers are fairly easy to kill. I’m confident that all the AAs will be fairly balanced for H4.
For me, armour lock wasn’t hard to counter. I just found it really annoying. I get a guy to 1 shot and then I have to wait to kill him while he armour locks? In most cases i’d be able to kill him right when he comes out of it but then there are also the cases where his teammates come to help.
I agree with Critical on this.

That is the exact reason why they removed it. Did you listen to the Sparkcast? They literally stated this exact situation and said that it was detrimental to the gameplay. They said gameplay should never come to a complete halt.
since most noobs used it like it was last chance instead of using it to body clowns who do the most obvious thing, i’m not sad that it’s not coming back.

It’s a big misconception that players who complain about Armor Lock can’t counter it. This cannot be further from the truth. It’s not hard at all, but it’s annoying and it’s abused by players who think they are good when their team mates pull their butts out of the fire when they should die for not moving smartly through the map.
I agree with you on this.
Anything that slows down the game, let alone grant a player invincibility that stops the flow combat for a few seconds (a big DEAL in Halo) has no place in future games.

100% agree with you. I always see a lot of people saying that people don’t like Armour Lock because they can’t counter it. Maybe people don’t like it because it’s terrible and slows down the game?
Yup. I’m really glad they got rid of it. It’s the one ability that really never had a place in Halo.

Then I made a bad call and got myself killed, luckily my teammates are fine and know where the other team is. So what if I didn’t get to kill him and he lives a few seconds longer, I would’ve been killed by his team regardless.
I also don’t see how that person is a noob. They outsmarted me, they led me into a position they knew I wouldn’t have been able to get out of. That’s not very noobish, if you ask me that player was pretty cunning to trick me like that.

No they didn’t “outsmart” you. Outsmarting is flanking or ambushing a player where they least expect it. Then you outplay them and so far, it looks like Halo 4 will be rewarding both.
With Armor Lock, it’s just press button and you get a “get out of jail for free” card. You didn’t get outplayed at all in that situation. Your opponent was simply bad and relied on a crutch because hes aim wasn’t true.
You may think its okay, no big deal I’ll just respawn. That’s exactly the wrong attitude to have. Time and time again I’ll get into a DMR duel (i am pretty sure many of us are familar with this situation), out duel the other kid, only to have him AL.
Even if the team doesn’t bail the player out, it still interrupts the flow of combat and just delays the inevitable. What part of this don’t you understand?
Besides, 343 must agree with me because it’s being removed. Hell Frank O Connor himself doesn’t even like it and he’s not the best of Halo players. It even got a well deserved nerf in TU though it’s annoying. I did love forcing players out of it, thinking their crutch will last the full five. lol
You’re the minority here. If you really like Armor Lock so much, then you’ll be happy to know Reach isn’t going anywhere.

What the hell are you talking about Sprint got the nerf people were begging for it. so i have some hopes everything else got tweaked.
