no armor effects please

i only liked the idea of the developers and lucky people to have the special armor and flaming head(i know flaming head wasn’t given out, but try to see my point. only one lucky person got that i think). i don’t like having everyone have these different effects flame BP, thunderstorm, hearts, and that stink cloud. i think it’s just childish to have those, and that armor itself should be the bigger focus. only make 1 effect and armor set for the developers and lucky people. To stop everyone from their typing, High rank people should be awarded something else.

i agree…

Agreed, I’m tired of Halo bieng a gimmicky firework show.

Yep. Flames and blue flames were cool since it was just for devs, but everyone running around with hearts gets old. Plus, it gives away peoples positions on occasion.

Back in my day. The only customizing we had was being able to change the color of your Spartan, then being able to play as an Elite, or a Spartan, and being able to pick an emblem. We didn’t have those fancy doodads called “Armor Effects”, or “Armor Permutations”. Life was good back then, but those damn 12 year olds invested Halo. And all they want now is changeable armor, and pixels.

I agree. The flames were cool just for devs, but now that everyone is equiping them and with hearts, electricity…not only that is making the game childish it is also giving your ennemies your position!

Reput something else for 343 members but no more Armor Effects!

Same. I really dislike hearing a “YAYYYY!!!” after getting a kill on a player along with them bursting into confetti. It’s just inane.

I don’t particularly care for them either, but it’s not like they impede my enjoyment of the game. Keep them for the many that enjoy them…

all peoples run with an armor effect in the maps and at the begin i liked them but now thats so normal…
but it was a good idea

Honest question - how, exactly, do the armor effects affect your gameplay?

Why does it matter…?

Having a flaming head is childish…in a game where brightly colored super-soldiers who t-bag the corpses of their fallen foes.

Really?

But Halo is supposed to be COLORFUL!!!

Back when I first started playing Halo, all you could do was choose your color(and on lan, that caused a fight EVERY time). Then it turned into 2 colors, symbol and spartan or elite. That was fine too, Created a little bit of variety. Then with Halo 3 they came out with different armor pieces and helmets, it turned into who could try to look the most unique, but the thing that set that apart was the Recon and Flaming head. If you had either of those, you either knew somebody or was staff.

Me I preferred it when it was just choose your color and emblem. No special effects, no credit farming for new stuff. Just good solid gameplay.

And honestly 2M Cred. for an effect?

It just seems like it’s about style over substance, everyone cares more about -Yoink!- as much armour as possible than just playing the game and having fun, nobdy plays customs in Reach because of this.

I really don’t think the credit system is THAT much to blame for lack of customs in Reach. Partially, maybe. But entirely? Ehhh I don’t think so. In general the custom game options in Reach seems subpar to Halo 3’s all around.

That said, I still don’t see how AE’s or different armor permutations affects anyone’s gameplay.

Colourful in it’s map design. The thing is, the armour effects weren’t even aesthetically pleasing. I mean, hearts? Confetti? Fart clouds?

Same with anything repeated, it may be entertaining for a while but it will become annoying.

Anyone play Too Human? When that valkyrie lifted you up after you died?

Cool for about 20 seconds, then -Yoink!- was it annoying.

Same with GBP. Yayy!! Cool first time then a repeated annoyance.

Take 'em out. have some cooler helmets or something. Or a shiny new Avatar. I dunno.

Haha wow this is so true :frowning:

Someone posted a question on Bnet a while back asking “why don’t you play customs?” and the top answer was “No Cr payout”. That’s just sad.

But anyway, the obvious answer to your question is it doesn’t, at least not directly. It can in subtle ways, for example, inclement weather could give someone’s position away, or birthday party could block a part of your view. But that really isn’t an issue to me, it just feels like it’s dumbing the game down, we might as well replace the multiplayer announcer with Justin Bieber, have Hannah Montana songs playing in the background and replace grenades with pokeballs.
