Increasing aim assist to make the PC/console divide more fair is not the way to go. Controllers will never be a accurate as a mouse, and PC players will always have a significant advantage. The only real solution is to split the PC and console players.
I really like the aim options but hate the fact we cant turn off aim assist. I can’t tell you how many times my reticle was dragged off target because of aim assist in the tech preview. If aim assist gives you an advantage then they’re should be no problem having the option to turn it off. I would play MCC a lot more if I could turn aim assist off too.
I’ve played halo competitively since halo 2, always played on the controller.
I love the way this game feels. You just have to get used to it man. Practice you’ll get better
edit: playing pvp on controller I am consistently at the top of my lobbies

“Train” to get better by using controller without aim assist. In other words play with mouse and keyboard if you want to beat mnk. Are you forgetting that halo has always been a console based game. Cod Warzone has a more balanced input Mp right now and the devs hardly care about that game.
I restate this again, I don’t care about controller v controller because even with aim assist the better player always wins. I random queued to diamond 3 in halo 5 slayer last week no problem staying positive.
However with the addition of crossplay I want to see inputs balanced. I have friends on PC that I’d like to play ranked with but where’s the competive fun if there’s a huge disadvantage.
Honestly as a guy who can’t play with K&M I find the lack of aim assist to be refreshing, I feel it’s helping me better my accuracy. I do enjoy aim assist but it’s fine how it is to me.
I agree. I love everything about the game but I feel like this will be a game I play on m&k…BR feels decent but everything else is garbage with no Aim Assist.
I’m genuinely surprised so many controller players are okay with it. I’m even okay if they up magnetism for mnk only and up AA for controller.
I do love the game but I was having a hard time enjoying it unless I got a BR in my hands.
I feel like they won’t make any change either since the majority seems to like where it is.

I’ll have what this guy is having. Low aim assist doesn’t bother me but the current aim curve is an affront to modern gaming. Clunky as all hell and it WILL put new players off and MCC vets like myself.

Don’t know if the majority like it, seems like there’s a fairly even divide looking through posts on reddit, -Yoink!- and even the forums here.
For anyone having trouble aiming with controller, try putting your look acceleration on 1. I’ve always played on 2 when the scale was 1-5 and 4 when it was 1-10. After putting Infinites on 1 though I was able to actually start landing shots with the percision weapons like the Sidekick and Commando. You’ll notice the aim assist is actually there way much better.
Edit: Something else to try fo the next beta is this. So I just discovered that you can edit both horizontal and vertical sensitivity seperately in Halo 5. (Feel like the biggest idiot ever right now. Especially with how much I’ve been grinding recently.) I also just discovered that because of that, with the base choices the horizontal sensitivitiy is half of the sensitivity you choose. This also might be the cause from some controller players issues. So for the next beta if you typically play on 4 then you should make your verticle 4 and your horizontal 2 and see if that helps.

Youre out of your mind if you think it felt great. Even halo pros said it didnt feel good. The sniper is impossible to use on controller

The vast majority of top players will be on controller bud, even if it isnt separated. Hate to break it to you. However there is way to little aim assist. It doesnt need to be mcc levels but aiming doesnt feel good at all right now.

youre playing trash ai’s that let you miss multiple shots. People are in for a rude awakening in actual pvp… Ive been playing halo for 15 years. Ive been top ranked in every halo and consider myself an extremely good halo player. Im having trouble aiming. Now this doesnt mean im not doing well the bots are trash. I still go like 20-3 every game but the bots just suck and only hit a couple shots. When you are playing actual pvp against good m&k players you’ll wish you had more aim assist.

I don’t know in PvP but now we have to judge the game in this version, when 343 will open the beta with PvP we can discuss about.
I also play Halo since the first.
Definitely needs an adjustment. Especially considering it’s cross play. With little to no aim assist, console players will get steam rolled by PC players majority of the time. If it doesn’t change, I won’t be turning cross play on.
I play with controller and it feels great , but personally I would like the zoom of the weapons to be the same as that of halo 5, this for weapons that do not have a high zoom level, for example the magnum or the shotgun among others
I don’t consider myself some God at Halo, but I think I’m decent in Halo 3 and Reach.
I found the Commando, Battle Rifle and Sidekick to be very difficult to use and almost always ignored them over the AR, Needler, Ravager etc.
The Sniper Rifle felt borderline unusable.
Yeah the aiming felt like garbage once pvp was enabled. With the bots it wasn’t too bad, but once players that knew how to strafe and dodge got in it was rough. I don’t think we need halo 5 levels of aim assist or halo 3 bullet magnetism, but as it is right now it’s not very fun to be a casual player and just get stomped by m&k sweats. Maybe for people with tons of practice on controller it’s fine, but for your average guy it just makes the game frustrating.
My understanding is that ranked multiplayer will be split based upon input, having controller players play only controller players, and mouse and keyboard players play only mouse and keyboard players, all regardless of platform. If that is the case, then why is there a need to “balance” controller input by lowering aim assist?
I agree with those who say it does not feel good on controller right now. Maybe it would be fine after a lot of practice, but as it stands, halo infinite feels like it has significantly less aim assist then pretty much any other shooter I’ve played on Xbox. The experience is a tad jarring, and could be off-putting to a lot of players.
I think most people overestimate the skill of mnk users - the majority of them are potato aimers just like you and me, sure the skill ceiling may be higher but you talking about a % of the player base you’ll probably never see. I see myself as a pretty average gamer and I play with both inputs depending mood and my skill is pretty similar across both inputs, its not like I wipe the floor with one or the other. I agree it could be dialed up a smidge perhaps but not to MCC levels
Aiming on Xbox series x is definitely broken. Aim assist would go a long ways here. If 343 added the option to turn it on or off, and set the aggressiveness of it, I think that’s a pretty decent Middle ground. A significant portion of the classic Halo user base is a lot older now, we don’t have all this time to practice like before. Aiming feels like a chore, and it makes the game not fun. That’s the whole reason why we play Halo is to have fun. If you can’t deal with casuals having fun and needing aim assist… thats on you. Keep in mind 95% of the player base doesn’t need\want all these stupid MLG type settings. Halo started off as casual and it really needs to return to that imo.
