"No aim assist is fine"

The lower aim assist is simply not as conducive for casual play, which is going to make a significant portion of the player base. I, for one, admit that I’m not the best aimer in the world. I’m doing pretty great against the bots with some effort, but sometimes I want to just get home at the end of the day and mindlessly play some matches without putting in any effort. And I wouldn’t mind it staying like this in some playlists, but you won’t retain as many people if it’s a sweat-fest even in social games.

> halo infinite only has slightly less aim assist than apex legends and apex legends has an incredibly huge casual player base. the reason halo is always lacking a huge player base is because it’s too easy. people don’t want to turn their brains off and let aim assist do everything, they want a bit of a challenge. now that halo is slightly more of a challenge, the majority will come.

That was always offset by the longer TTK. I’ve never heard that Halo is too easy, with the exception of 4, and I certainly don’t think it’s the reason for the player base issues.

> I’ve been alternating between the two inputs quite a bit the last couple of days and I can honestly say this might be the most balanced the two inputs have ever been. Is aim assist lower than other Halos? Yes, but it’s still a pretty big advantage in close-mid range and in 1v1 duels. The sidekick is really strong with a controller but pretty difficult with a MnK. On the flip side, ranged weapons like the Sniper and Skewer are obviously much better with MnK, and throwing well placed grenades is easier. The BR is very well balanced for both inputs.

I, too, have been alternating back and forth. This is pretty much exactly my experience down to the dot.

I’m of the opinion that aim assist needs to be a player-side option. There’s a fair few folks like myself that like it exactly as it is, but plenty of folks that can’t get on with this smaller amount of aim assist and on the other end a few god-tier controller users that could do with an “off” option.

> Aim assist will always be the superior option when it comes to competition, so there is no way that the pros will suddenly switch to kbm. Before anything like that would come into consideration, they will just increase the aim assist.

I’m talking FPS games in general. Aim assist is an advantage for the average player, but k&m is the advantage for the very best players as the ceiling is far higher. To counter it you have to have what I would consider as game breaking aim assist.

I’d love to see you play Halo without aim assist

R6S can do it because of slow movement speed and low TTK, same with PUBG. You’d be SOL with no aim assist in Halo.

I havent played infinite but as long it does not feel like halo 5 im good

Ever consider you just don’t have the skill level you thought you did? Now that you don’t have AA to crutch on, you get to see how well you actually do.

Just needs to be boosted a bit, and the control settings really needs to be adjusted. I play on 4 on MCC, and it felt like I was playing on 7 or something in this tech. plus all the deadzones and stuff too are pretty whack. Took way too much time adjusting it to feel “ok”.

I like the aim assist now.

Before you go trying to flame people, I’d advise you check yourself. not sure there is much room to talk there.

Playing Halo with 0 assist will be a nightmare. It has a longer TTK, and movement speeds unlike other games. Tracking targets with dual analog, go try it. Go mod MCC right now and try it. Even the games like R6s have AIM ASSIST. I am a MnK player mainly. I just think the majority of my fellow MnK users are pretty bad tbh.

Lmao. Shut up you can’t go accusing people of being bad with those stats.

You’re completely overlooking that the point of this post and everyone’s concerns is how this -Yoink- aim assist is going to affect console vs PC.

Just look at how easily PC players use the commando and how much more difficult it is for controller players to stay on target. Let’s see how well you do against them without the “crutch”.

I said literally nothing about me being better than them. My stats change LITERALLY nothing about my comment. We all have this sense of how good we are, but when the crutch is taken off then we see how bad we are. It’s that simple.

I’m fine with controller.

So I think that the AA needs to be raised a hair, like literally just a sliver, over all I’m fine with where its at that said, I do worry that M&K players on pc will have a huge advantage which is why I personally at least will opt out of cross-play straight up

As others in the thread have stated… I think the controller aim assist feels fine on PC at least, I haven’t tried on Xbox. It already feels better than 5’s aim assist for sure in my opinion.

Absolutely this. Halo has always been the best place for casual play, for me, and I’m sure a lot of others my love for the game comes from chilling out with the boys, playing dumb custom games or just jumping into a few slayer matches here and there, I don’t want to have to play for 200 hours to be remotely competitive or feel like I’m hitting my shots effectively. Halo has such a big focus on precision, single/burst fire weapons unlike other games, with a higher TTK and as a result needs effective sustained tracking with the crosshair. Now my aim has been pretty good in the flight, with around 60+% accuracy in matches but it just feels like garbage. It isn’t fun to be fighting with your thumbstick for 8 minutes, aim assist was invented to help negate this and I’m honestly shocked at how many people in this thread are saying its okay. I don’t know whether people are just absolute sweatbags, or just too up 343 to be objective or what, but its truly baffling to me. Theres no doubt MCC has too much assist to be competitive with M+K, but infinite has gone way too far in the opposite direction.

Controller definitely needs to be nudged up a bit. I’ve gotten pretty used to it after playing all weekend but its pretty disappointing how they nerfed controller to appease PC players.

As long as we don’t have to play with PC players in the full game, I like the level of aim assist. Although, the BR could use a little less bullet magnetism to match the other weapons. There’s been too much aim assist in Halo since Reach.

Imagine crying this early about disadvantages when PvP literally isn’t even enabled. Learn to aim. Dare I say train it and get better.

Halo has always had a steep skill curve. I think the aiming is perfect the way it is now. People seem to forget Halo 5 was sweaty because it didn’t include anything casual not because it was hard to aim.

Ranked play is input based. That’s all that matters.
