NO ADS

While I didnt mind ADS I’d rather the classic aiming back when I’m playing halo I want it to feel like halo and not call of duty dont get me wrong I’m a fan of call of duty as well but if I wanted to play a game that felt like call of duty I’d just go play call of duty when I’m playing halo I want it to feel like halo

To each their own, but ADS isn’t strictly a Call of Duty feature. So many shooters use ADS, so to imply that using ADS equates to feeling like CoD is unfair. It’s a shooting mechanic, so it’s utilized by many shooters. You can argue against using ADS in Halo, but simply saying it makes it feel like Call of Duty is too generic of a criticism. Argue harder.

Even with smart-link and H5’s mild use of ADS, Halo still feels like Halo. There’s no confusion or feeling of overlap, to me at least.

ADS in H5 never gave me CoD vibes tbh probably sense so many shooters have it making it more of a universal thing for fps instead of a trend, it made more weapons seem useful such as the assault rifle, smg, etc. Plus I’m going to be honest the classic aiming dwindles the sandbox down to using a precision weapon most of the time

I get where you’re coming from on this, but I actually think 343 handled ADS pretty well in Halo. I’d also prefer it not to be there, but I appreciate that ADS didn’t actually reduce bullet spread or anything. It was more or less an aesthetic add on for those who prefer it.

Personally I was into ADS. Generally I’m an old school halo fan and prefer more classic movement etc, but I think this is one move I can get behind. It really makes much more sense, and it has a good feel for me.

Except with shotguns… I’ll never understand the shotguns…

Bruh when I noticed the SAW could Ads in H5 I knew 343 took ADS too far. I’m with you, not every weapon needs a scope. And the weapons that do should be for range. People bring up H5 as if H5 wasn’t universally detested by the core Halo Playerbase. H5 weapon systems worked so well that they’ve pretty much completely scrapped them for Infinite.

Weapons like the Saw have ADS in H5. Like…what? Are people that scared of CQC that they want to spend entire games running around like chickens at the edge of maps.

This was further exasperated by the fact that you can sit in one spot in H5 and snipe players in their spawns. (on multiple maps)

People need to realize just how much ADS impacts CQC game play and how important (and fun) it is to not get sniped as you’re spawning.

ADS should 1000% not be on every gun, that’s just stupid.

Not going to lie going to miss actually seeing the Carbine scope, the unique Fuel Rod and Needler scope. That was really cool.

I’m pretty sure Smart-Link won’t be in Infinite based on the gameplay demo in July last year.

I wouldn’t be sad to see it go, to be honest I never really used it.

Honestly I’m fine with ADS and want it back.

but I’m fine without it as well.

Huh

it wasn’t until now that I realized I’m ok with going back to the classics or modernizing Halo. I like both in terms of gameplay.

ADS was a good addition to Halo and I hope it gets kept. It made weapons like the AR and SMG actually seem viable at anything more than point blank range which to me really helped the meta.

This. I am fine with Ads, just not for every single weapon possible.

I for one would like halo to transition/ evolve into more of a planetside 2/ battlefield experience with squad rolls and vehicular combat. its what makes the Arma 3 trebuchet mod so fun to play. now, it doesn’t have to go into arma 3 level of depth but a battlefield style experience might actually boost the population for the better and move it past the arena style shooter that COD has been doing for years.

The SAW was a power weapon, so it being a little more lethal with ADS only makes sense.

As for spawn killing, that’s a different issue entirely. ADS isn’t to blame for spawn camping, bad spawn placement/logic is.

Also, who is the core Halo player base? I’m guessing it’s not me even though I’ve been with Halo since it started, because I liked having some ADS in Halo finally.

H5’s weapons did work surprisingly well. For once, all guns had viable roles. But for some reason some people didn’t like that and thought that a few select guns should dominate in every combat scenario… Why put other guns in if they suck and no one is going to use them?

It’s because alot of guns had their reach extended. You say that alot of guns became viable yes. But you also lose individuality among the guns which forces it back to what it would have been.
(I’ll use the AR and the SMG as an example) with ads the smg had one of the biggest buffs since damage fall off isn’t a thing and bullet magnetism is also a problem. The smg killed what the ar had which was mid to close combat. (which has been brought up on the fourm many of times)
Having all guns being able to do “everything” isn’t good for the sandbox and takes away from the real roles.

I couldn’t agree with everything you said more. Bravo.

I kind of like how they approached ADS in Halo 5.

There is a trade off. Your range may be extended (and in some cases increased damage) - but it is at the expense of radar and having a restricted field of view.

I like the consistency of the same button doing the same action on all weapons. It can be jarring if you press the button (even if accidentally / muscle memory) and nothing happens.

And with CQC weapons we’re not talking about sniping people across the map. What’s it with the shotgun? Extended from 7m to 11m or something?

I didn’t mind having ADS in Halo 5, but I wont be heartbroken if it’s not in Infinite.

I’m not of the same opinion that just because H5 had ads it made it feel like CoD but I do prefer the classic zoom just because it makes Halo feel a little more unique considering everything has ads these days. If we’re just going by the demo gameplay it looks like zoom is back and not ads but I wouldn’t bank on that until confirmed.
