No 4-player split screen. Seriously wtf!

I saw this on another post but I didn’t feel like reading it. Can someone confirm this? Will there really not be 4 player split screen? Cause that’ll make me lose a lot of interest REALLY fast

Loll I grew up with split screen like everyone else (God bless those golden eye days) but honestly I won’t miss it if it’s true. It was only a matter of time before it disappeared. The bigger online gets the less it’s needed. I think and hope 2 player campaign never leaves. But that 4 player? Mehh.

What?! I can play coop on my Wii U and it’s a blast! How the -Yoink- could they do this -Yoink-?

Whoops double post

It’s sad yes, But not 343’s fault. Halo 5 Is to… “big” and graphical to properly run a 4 screen. If they did have it, it would just lag probably.

That sounds like a lot of bullsh*t to me. Every game turns down the graphics when it does split screen, that’s nothing new. And if it is true, some real “next gen” this is. I for one usually play Halo with 3 or 4 people at all times. Custom games are what makes Halo one of the best games on the market, but now all you can do is 1v1 people. They should be adding 4 player split screen co-op in campaign, not removing it from multiplayer.

They never really confirmed absence of 4-player split screen, but they said that 2-player splitscreen was what they were planning to achieve.

Its just a beta calm the hell down and wait for the full game.

Yeah, it sucks. But seriously? Did you really expect 4 player split-screen to stay when they’re trying to push 60fps and native resolution to the maximum? It is, and has always been, incredibly impractical and incredibly taxing on an engine to render 4 screens at once, while attempting to retain a fraction of the graphical quality of one screen…

That’s temporal state you’re talking about. When I was in early 20s I didn’t care about split screen at all. However after that circle of life is making everything repeating: first woman, then kid, then another kid, then you need game that whole family is going to play together… Yup. I’d say that 4 player split screen is needed as much as it was 5 or 10 or 15 years ago.

I don’t care that there wasn’t split screen in the beta, I never expected there to be

Halo 2 Anniversary runs horribly in split screen, so I think that 343 has reached the point where they’re optimizing games just for 1 player so they can squeeze in some extra performance

I could have sworn newer games with bigger hardware and more size were designed to add features. I could have sworn.

Yeah we definitely need 4 player splitscreen. How the hell am I supposed to play Halo with my friends? 1v1 suck because all my friends suck. At least with 4 players we can actually play the game.

More then likely it’s a hardware limitation that prevents this. They’re gonna use up a lot of juice even with a 2-player splitscreen, cause they’ve gotta render the environment twice. Rendering it 4 times real time on one screen the the current level of graphical fidelity, well lets just say the hardware won’t be able to keep up as well as it would need to.

This isn’t some Xbox one bashing thing or anything, it’s just how it works.

They could do it, but they’d have to reduce the graphical fidelity a fair bit and I don’t think people would like that.

Even if they did drop the graphical fidelity to allow 4-player split, it would drop it by a massive amount, to much to put on a game like this.

If that’s the case, then sure. I just thought we had next gen, that’s all

No decent games. Favorite features getting cut. Corporate crap getting pulled on a regular basis. Inflated price tag. Very little reason for existing when compared to PC.

“Next gen” is a dry and bitter taste in the mouth of gaming. One day the console market will die. That will be the day.

Complaining on this forum that they don’t read does nothing. We must take the fight to Twitter: https://twitter.com/Hardline_Pro/status/550523833287847936

I completely agree but sadly that depens on the genre. As amazing as it sounds to have the whole family sit and play a first person shooter it’s a minority. Specially with them wanting to be the center of your living room there will always be family games. FPS or at least this one, just won’t be one of them.
