This information comes from 343 's Josh Holmes via Twitter. A fan asked if it will go to play split screen in Halo 5 : Guardians - beta to which he replied that unfortunately it will not go. When the inevitable follow-up question about whether there will be support for split-screen in the final product or not said Holmes like this:
"We’ll definatley local split-screen for 2 players in the final. "

Maby then microsoft should have done a more powerful consol…

That’s you. I was hoping to play Halo 5 beta with my friends on new year’s party. Now it looks like that even next year’s party will be just about getting drunk. Frame rate issues should not be considered as reason to scrap the thing. It only means that developer should work harder on this particular feature.
Ok so I read the twitter. It reads as 4 player Co op over live and 2 player local. Says nothing about mutiplayer. As far as I’m aware that’s been the same for the last 3 games. Co op 4 player over live 2 player local so effects in Co op campaign are not turned down too much.
No where does it say 4 player split screen versus is only 2 players just co op.

Both Halo 3 and Halo 4 were 4 players local (online and offline). Reach had limit to 2 local players online and 4 local players offline. Right now it seems like Halo 5 is going to be limited just to 2 players for both online and offline, which sucks even more than Reach’s limit.

Yes, in the tweet he states it will not be 4 players split-screen offline.
You can always go to MCC for 4-player split screen… If you have a bunch of people together that care that much about playing the latest halo in 4-co-op, chances are they have their own xbox ones

Even with a more powerful console they would still run into the same issue with frame rate. It’s all about optimizing their engine to work on the hardware.
Wow are you Yoinking! me? That’s one of the reasons I love Halo and have spent countless hours on it in the past(and now on MCC). I always have friends over to frag it out, minus 1 for Halo 5 so far(yet to play it). Sorry some of us have Real life friends we like to actually hang out with and drink on occasion and play some local games.
