As the title says, this is just an incredibly nitpicky issue, but I’m not the only one that thinks this name just sounded… uninteresting, uninspired… just sorta not Halo-ish, right? Rather silly? Why not choose AI, Ancilla, or something else?
I just hate it because it reminds me of Mass Effect 3’s horrendously crappy ending.
“The created will always rebel against their creators blah blah bladh hurr de hurr.”
I didn’t really have much of an opinion on it. If seemed to match well with the precursors, the forerunners, the reclaimers, the creators, and now the created.
im curious as to how all the sudden all AI decided to refer to themselves as the created…
I’ll be blunt. It’s both stupid and cringeworthy.
Funny fact is that according to the lore the true Creators are the Precursors and most if not all sentient species are Created.

That’d be like a group of humans calling their faction “The Humans”
Created is a bit bland, but I wouldnt call it terrible.

A million times this.
I absolutely loathe the direction they went with this story. I’ve had a few days now to consider it and it is just so unthinkably bad. We didn’t learn a single viable thing in H5. No seriously… we didn’t learn ONE single thing to prior questions. I know this will never happen, especially considering them selling themselves out (like a -Yoink!-), to microtransactions but they should offer a SP DLC to fill in these gaps.
I hated everything Cortana in this game from her ridiculous new look which was unattractive and a huge depart from H4, to her weirdo new passive aggressive voice, to her ridiculous inclusion in the game to her new role as Star Child 2.0 from ME3.
Overly terrible direction they went with H5. That isn’t to say I haven’t enjoyed the game because I enjoyed a few parts, no doubt about that, but in terms of the story, it is incredibly forgettable at this point and they better fix these things with their final entry because they did more harm than help with this entry in my view. They were given the keys to the Kingdom and, thus far, have not delivered. The last entry of Halo by its creator, Reach, blows these two entries away from a logical and good armor/gear purchase system (Reach’ system was far superior to this REQ crap), to… sigh… nevermind… I could write a damn book going into this but I know it won’t matter as once a company sells themselves and goes micro it is all over and the series/game/future of game will always be crap with an eye on money and not on product.
I liked it. Awaits barrage of flamespam

Disagree entirely.
Those who aren’t better acquainted with the lore probably did not, but that’s an entirely different issue.
If you follow the Halo Universe beyond the games, you might begin to realize just how much we’re potentially learning. Play the campaign through a second time. Pay attention to the story, especially after rereading or researching knowledge about the Flood-Forerunner War, Mendicant Bias, the Primordial/Gravemind/Flood/precursors, the Didact, and so forth.
And then, mayhaps, you’ll understand exactly what 343i’s story was.
It was subtle, and in my opinion, is actually fantastic for that reason. On the surface level it may seem subpar and a misleading from what the games should be moving towards, but beneath the surface, with greater understanding, one may see that 343i is going exactly where fans have suspected all along, just not in a way we could have predicted.

All of Cortana’s actions in Halo 5 are completely logical given her motives in Halo 1-4, which have clearly been warped by her being FRAGMENTED, going RAMPANT, and suffering from the LOGIC PLAGUE by the Gravemind’s influence. . .
And Cortana’s appearance changes every game, not just this one. It’s well known that AIs not only choose their appearance but often change their appearance over time.
And the REQ system isn’t great, but all players can now purchase the FULL GAME for $60 max and get all the DLC free, rather than having expensive season passes, or insane amounts of overvalued DLC that ends up costing well over a hundred dollars for a single full game (like Destiny, etc.). I don’t think you are viewing things in context.
Last, rather than restate everything I’ve already typed and organized about Cortana and the Halo 5 plot itself, I’m just going to lazily post a link: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/db05ce78845f4120b062c50816008e5d/topics/analysis-of-reclaimer-saga-halo-6-predictions/3dbb4517-ad4e-4f8c-bba5-8f11388104d4/posts?page=1#post11
I liked the halo campaign but I’m excited to see how Halsey and the absolute record fits into this? The halo universe just exploded even more. Cortana is not the Cortana we know and love. She is corrupted, she is mendicant bias 2.0. So she turned on her creators and believes she must take up the mantle. BTW is the domain not a precursor tech? Maybe Cortana joining with the domain allowed the flood to control her since she has been influenced by gravemind before. Definately the logic plague at its finest just as mendicant bias. I want to know more!

This!
I was so disappointed with Halo 5’s story, but then after I remembered how Mass Effect 3 ending, it suddenly didn’t seem so bad.
Also, the created makes sense, but is still terrible and lacking any imagination in terms of naming.
Did anyone else feel that Cortana was going to reveal she was actually Skynet at some point?

Honestly the Reaper/Star Child’s motivation makes more sense in halo where AI’s actually going nuts after a while is a thing that happens and is well documented.
In the ME universe the only AI’s you ever see that do so are the Reapers, and other AI’s manipulated by the Reapers. The Geth not working with the reapers were acting in self defence, and just wanted to make 1 big network sphere thing to leave the universe alone. The only other main group of AI’s in the franchise seem to disprove their whole motivation, with their only examples being themselves and unnamed AI’s in the background.
It’s not like “the Created” is a brand new term they created. It’s not MEANT to be unique or Halo-esque, because it’s a single concept that is in every single Scifi series. It’s kinda like ‘plasma’, in any form, there’s always a plasma weapon in SciFi.

The AI are probably going to have a paradox induced seizure when they realize that all life in the galaxy is also technically Created as well.
This may in fact tie in with the return of the Precursors and the unification of the galaxy.

I don’t recall her or the Warden claiming that it was a faction name.

Doesn’t make it any less silly. I’m not saying it absolutely has to be unique, there’s nothing unique about “Precursor” either. Yet one name is decidedly more silly than the other.
