Nightmare with Halo aspects

Kinda strange, but just thought I’d share.

I dreamt that I was at my Grandma’s old house, where she used to live a long time ago. The house was always said to be haunted. There were alot of stories of the creepy things that would go on in there.

So I was there again, but at my current age (23) and I was with an uncle of mine who has always been overly superstitious and a bit paranoid. The whole time there, I kept hearing this odd sound coming from nowhere in particular, but at the same time, everywhere at once. I thought maybe it was old plumbing or something, I don’t know. I heard it everywhere and it kinda sounded like a bunch of toads and frogs croaking nonstop. It was freaky sounding. It made me feel uneasy and anxious.

As I said before, this house was always said to be haunted. As a little kid, I always felt a bit uneasy when I was there. Mostly because of all the stories. But there was this one part of the house that always got the most attention. A passage to the West of the house that lead to a very small, narrow backyard. This backyard was the setting for most of the stories I heard as a kid and the setting of this dream.

So, in the dream I go outside and start talking to my uncle who looked anxious as well. He was standing several feet away from a cousin of mine. I asked him what was wrong and he asked me if I could hear that odd sound coming, seemingly, from all over the house at once. I said that I could but that it was probably plumbing, and not to worry about it. That’s when he got really upset and disturbed. He gave me a grave stare and told me “See that right there? That’s not our cousin. It’s an imposter, that’s not the real him.” At this, point my uncle started freaking me out. I asked him to calm the -Yoink- down but he kept insisting that the boy standing by us was not our actual cousin.

Suddenly I noticed that the croaking sound got a lot louder. It was coming from everywhere now, not just the house. It seemed to be coming from the sky, the ground, everywhere. Thats when I noticed that it was coming from INSIDE my head. It was deafening. I could hardly hear anything else. Then I noticed that whatever it was was actually a voice. At first it sounded like croaking but when I paid attention to it, I could hear words and thoughts being projected.

My uncle was, for some reason, much better than me at discerning what the voice was saying. He started translating. “That thing is a parasite. It consumes us and mutilates us but it doesn’t just eat us, it wants us. It wants to be us. It needs to possess us and become us. It wants all of our experiences and emotions and thoughts. That thing has our cousin. We need to get him back.”

This is when the dream got really freaky. Mixed in with the croaking, unintelligible voice in my head, I could also hear my cousin’s agonized yells and moans. He was being tortured by this thing. He was suffering tremendously and I could hear it all in my head. I finally believed my uncle and started freaking the -Yoink- out. Unarmed, my uncle started running to the back of the house via the West passage, which was where the voice was coming from. I grabbed his arm and tried to stop him from going but he pulled away and disappeared behind the house. I never saw him again in the dream. Then the thing showed itself. It was the -Yoinking!- Flood! All these flood forms started after me, screeching and moaning, hungry for my flesh, my very being. I could smell them too, the smell of decay, of corpses. I turned around and started sprinting as I’ve never sprinted before but the ground was now so full of debris and overgrowth that I could hardly advance. I kept tripping and stumbling and I could hear the flood gaining on me. My heart was pounding, I could hear multiple voices in my head, all yelling and I heard that freaky flood tune from the games, I got up and managed to slosh my way out of the debris and finally got to flat concrete and ran like -Yoink-. I didn’t look back and that’s when I woke up.

When I woke up, I realized that the voice was actually a Gravemind and it was telepathically communicating with me, aware of my presence long before I even considered that such a thing existed. It was freaky as hell. And the strangest thing of all is that it all seemed familiar. As if I had that same dream a long time ago. I don’t know. Thanks for reading!

Funny you should say I can’t handle h2a hi def flood so h6 will be a nightmare if the flood are present

Nice dream, glad I’m not the only one who can write about their dreams in such vivid details.

I have Halo-related dreams every now and then. The last one I remember took place on a snowy environment, a multiplayer map from Halo 2 called Containment. I was defending one of the bases from wave after wave of enemies, but I don’t remember who we were fighting exactly. I used a DMR to pick them off from the base, and when I ran out of ammo I jumped out and pulled out an energy sword. I was tearing through everyone, but near the end we were out of ammo and the enemy showed no sign of thinning. But just then, a Wraith appeared and blew most of them away with a barrage of explosive plasma. Those who survived retreated, and we won. But I had no idea who was in the Wraith, so I approached it to find out, and the person who was driving it hoped out.

It was my mom

That had me absolutely rattled, great thread.

You know that dream means you have to sword fight with the arbiter for your grandmother’s soul right?

I’ve had dreams like that before. Finally learned to not smoke before bed.

The flood doesn’t want to be you it just takes your body and your memories

How do you know? Are you a Gravemind? D:

But anyhow, that’s just what happened in my dream. I’m sure it’s not canonically accurate xD

I actually held back on the detail  I didn’t want to bore everyone by going on too long.
