On my fileshare, there’s a map called Nightmare Island and it’s game mode Survival that I believe is my greatest map I created gamewise.
On this map all the weapons never respawn, leaving you to always scavenge more ammo in other places, and discouraging long-term campng. Survivors don’t have radar, leaving them to pick up on their visual scanning and adds a level of anxiety to the game (especially if you get assassinated). Teamwork, communication, and sticking together is key, as they would have to divide the weapons and ammunition among themselves, as well as watch each other’s backs.
Zombies, on the other hand, have big radar and are pretty fast and can jump pretty high, which means survivors can’t assume anywhere is safe.
The round does not end until all survivors have been killed, which will pretty much happen eventually when they run out of ammo, or before then. This mode is pretty balanced between zombies and survivors (I do not recommend splitscreen with this), as both have distinct advantages. This mode can work anywhere between 4-16 players.
The survivors begin outside the island on the shallows, where a burning Falcon is their first sight. All are armed with only Magnums, and have to make their way to the island proper in order to find weaponry to arm themselves. A dark sky helps with the creepy mode, but doesn’t obscure sight lines. Weapons can be found in buildings, caves, and other landmarks on the map. Meanwhile the zombies spawn in the tunnel under the mountain, which is unaccessable to the survivors. They spawn with swords.
This custom game was my friends’ favorite map I created, and I hope yall will think that, too.
