Halo Nightfall (When HC actually works) often does not play, generally buffering for many minutes to play several seconds’ worth of video before Halo Channel crashes. This is a problem as I would like to watch Nightfall nd also get related in-game contnet on Halo: MCC and Halo 5. Is there any way to get around this?
I am working on the assumption you are reporting this issue on Xbox One, so if it is a Windows issue, please let me know. That said, if I may ask some questions:
- When you say Halo Channel crashes, what is the exact behavior? Does the app minimize back to Dashboard? Does the app skip to another video? etc…
- Does non-Nightfall content play for you?
- Have you been able to play any Terminal videos?
- Do you have a DVR or other video capture device inline between Xbox One and your TV?

A)Well, it buffers for about 5 minutes and then get the message “Halo Channel is unavailble” with the amazing grunt plushie. Then it doesn’t really respond so I hae to dashboard. (Oh yeah, it is X1, I didn’t realise there was a win8 version too)
B) I haven’t tried accessing any as of yet. I’ll report back when I am able to.
C) I have attempted to launch them from MCC to not much luck, usually I get the 'HC is unavailable message
D) Nope
This could be me having incredibly slow internet (As in, download speed in the kilobytes) or me installing a game at the same time, but the video I’m getting is good quality so I get the feeling it isn’t to do with my connection, as the video quality would be 360p or something like that.
Also, do things like H5beta’s Nightfall armour count if you only load up the episodes of nightfall or do you have to watch a certain amount?
I believe most of the unlocks require that you watch to the point of unlocking Second Stories and watching those Second Stories, which means you will have to watch the video.
Can you give me a rough idea of your actual internet speed? While you attempt to watch, do you see a ‘loading circle’ appear briefly onscreen (Should be a white circle in middle of the screen)

Roughly 160kb/s. Terribad Internet. I watched a bunch of the H2A cutscenes and the Sprint fine, and YouTube is also loading longer videos fine. Nightfall just seems to e the only one where I am stuck with a buffer for several minutes before playing a couple seconds o video.
Side note, I’m not getting HC is unavailable as frequently, don’t know I something happened but the app is actually loading most I the time now ^.^
