The recent Nielsen report puts Halo 5 at the top of Xbox One games, beating out Black Ops 3. Its also one of the most anticipated games coming out in Fall, up there with Fallout and BO3, and is the only exclusive with 100% ratimg.
“Black Ops III is the most anticipated title releasing on multiple platforms this holiday season, but on the Xbox One platform specifically, Halo 5 has slightly higher anticipation” said Scott Pitchford, Nielsen Games’ director of research and client consulting."
Thoughts? It looks like the general consumer is really liking what they see from Halo 5, and it looks like we’re going to have a healthy fanbase soon.
Its a good time to be a Halo fan.
I wouldn’t put too much trust in reports like this but it is encouraging. For me Halo 5 is turning out flawlessly (as long as the req system isn’t a horrendous grind and forces you to purchase packs) and im currently more hyped than ive ever been for a halo game.
I guess it would make sense since COD has been going downhill in a lot of things.

Well according to Nielsen, it does this rating based on awareness of the product, inclination to purchase the product, and in relation to other titles coming out. If its reading at 100%, thats an extremely good sign

I can’t speak for the quality of the games (I don’t play CoD), but I think sales peaked with BO2 which would mean Ghosts and AW didn’t sale as much. Always a bad sign for a franchise.
It’s CoD, it ain’t going anywhere, but it looks like they need some new ideas.

Agreed. I think that’s the hardest part of game development. New IP is fun and has it’s own set of challenges, but keeping an existing franchise relevant and interesting is a challenge in and of itself.

I’ll admit, I’ve never played a Fallout game. Same for Mass Effect. And Tomb Raider. (please don’t shun me) Any fan of a franchise is going to be excited for a new title in that franchise.
In terms of anticipation, I think any Halo fan is genuinely curious about any new game released under that moniker. Popularity is just about fanbase size, little else. COD has the advantage of being an annual release, being cross platform, and being popular. Halo fans have to wait a bit longer, and it’s a console exclusive.

I was only vaguely aware of Fallout until very recently. I agree, it’s a niche game, despite being relatively famous in more invested circles like ourselves. Add that to its slow releases and it’s not world famous. Despite Halo not having annual releases (not main games anyway) it got its fame from being a front runner in the old days, while Fallout was still an isometric turn-based strategy game.
