Nice to see some HLG in Halo 4

Been watching some videos lately. Nice to see it still going strong.

It was impressive in Halo 3 when players actually had to time jumps properly. Now it’s just all Jetpack and Camo nonsense.

no, it is dumb and hurts the community.

Not from some of the things I’ve seen in Halo Reach and 4. Seen some pretty inpressive methods that use armour lock or simply crouching through the map walls.

It’s not hurting me and I’m part of the community. I enjoy watching some of the things they can do.

Their is nothing impressive about being a coward for 9/10ths of the match. I remember back during Halo 3 I played against a team full of hiding kids. They got up by 1 point and hid on Construct. 2 of them managed to jump behind the gold lift and the other 2 were behind the glass. I was partied up with a full team and we walked around the map acting like we had no idea where they were. With 10 seconds left on the clock we killed the 2 players behind gold lift and took the lead. It’s the best strategy to beating these kids. They were probably having so much fun thinking they were hilarious then all of a sudden they were probably pretty upset.

but it takes skill

I was once invited to join HLG. I actually used one of the spots they showed me when my doubles partner lagged out, above the sniper on guardian. I never did join though…

If they hid with a 1 point lead then they weren’t REAL hiders. Actual hiders will always gain a lead that is AT LEAST 1 more point than the total number of people on their team (4v4 would be a 5 kill lead, 8v8 would be 9 kills etc). This avoids the chance of losing if found at the end of the game. You probably played against kids who saw some HLG vids and thought they would give it a go, not knowing that rule.

And you are aware that some hiders are great players right? 2 guys I know (can’t remember their GT’s I just call them Spoon and LJ) played a legit 2v2 against T2 and his buddy and beat them by 11 kills. HIDERS BEAT AN MLG PRO…BY 11 KILLS. A few of the guys who hide are good tournament winning players, most of the rest are good players and some are random kids who hide without gaining a good enough lead.

The REAL hiders don’t hide because they have to, They hide because they want to.

HLG isn’t a clan. Its a gaming style that spreads across a variety of games. There are HLG clans, but HLG itself isn’t a clan.

The guy directed me to a website where i was to apply to join. It seemed legit, though I was kinda new to Halo at the time. I’ll see if I can find it.

Buy yeah, I should have said “invited to join an HLG clan”.

Boy, I love it when I hide inside the walls XD

Jesus I hate HLG. How is crouching in a corner for the whole match because you can’t actually outshoot someone fun? It’s like people who AFK’d for credits in Reach. Wtf is the point of trying to farm credits if they’re only valid in a game you don’t play?

I remember when HLG was skilled jumps and interesting tricks to get to high places.

Now it’s just jetpack, camo and abusing glitches in the maps.

Heck, I did a bit of HLG more than once, quite successfully in fact.

Sigh

It’s not farming credits and most of the people who HLG are actually pretty good.

I don’t do it because I want credits. I do it because finding creative ways to outsmart my opponent is fun.

If you can’t find me, then you need to learn how to beat me for the next time you play me. This increases your knowledge of the map, and allows you to find interesting strategies as opposed to conforming to regular map routine.

If you think HLG is just crouching in corners waiting for kills then you seriously have no idea what you’re talking about

I love how many people have no idea what they’re talking about.

HLG relies on being ahead by more kills than the number of players on your team, then finding the time to perform the hide.

It’s not simply crouching in a corner or jumping on a doorway. Sometimes it involves 2-3 people just to pull it off.

The enjoyment comes from watching someone walk right under, above, or beside you and have no idea you’re there. It’s not that these players can’t kill the opponents (demonstrated by the lead in the score…), but that it’s funny and provides another form of entertainment.

Of course, not many people hide every single match. They do it when they feel like it.

I remember hiding on Blackout Team Doubles at 2:30 AM, then going upstairs to make a pizza, only to return and see people running right below me.

Um, okay? You faced one group of people who did that. Besides that’s not actually hiding if they were in a normal part of the map. Hiding is like going under the map or on above sniper spawn, and most of my friends don’t hide until they have a 5+ point lead by which time they would have won anyway…

HLG is almost impossible in Halo 4 anyway considering that 343i already patched some of the maps like Haven. You still can get out of some of the other maps like Ragnarok and Complex. It is especially funny when you get the flag out of the map on CTF Simplex. lol.

Only if you can’t figure out where they’re at.

Although, it’s really astounding how people will walk around and not know where you are. I played a game of Team Snipers in Halo 3 on Last Resort where my team quit out on me, but we had the lead. I walked down to the beach and stood behind a rock by the cliff wall and nobody found me. I remember taking potshots just to get their attention, but they never got it.

This community must not have played Hide and Seek much as kids.

It wasn’t hard to grenade or power drain jump in Halo 3…
It’s even harder now in Halo 4 because of Promethean Vision. You either have to be playing slayer pro, or you have to actually be outside of the map…

I miss superjumping on Lockout and hiding in secret rooms on Guardian. That was the shizznits. xD
