I got my first official taste of covenant slayer. I’ve held off for a while because I was worried that 343 would’ve screwed it up by adding an obscene amount of plasma pistols. however to my surprise I rather enjoyed how they put it together. I figured that 343 gets a lot of complaints and hate from people (myself included) so I figured i’d put some positive in the forums for a change
So far my only complaint for covenant slayer is the rig. you simply cannot have a map that small with so many tight corners with a gravhammer or sword. remove the gravhammer and instead put maybe a caster or a fuel rod. but the map is just too small imo for any melee weapons. it take almost no time to get from one side of the map to the other.
I like Convenant slayer, but I stopped playing because the matches were getting too sweaty.

If there’s a playlist in this game that isn’t too sweaty then I’d like to hear about it.

pretty much… I always try to win. a lot of people confuse “social” playlists with " i don’t have to try or care" playlists. if you aren’t concerned with winning or trying then you belong in custom games not in MM ruining other’s experience .

Well, I’m not sure that I’d say there’s no place for the unmotivated player in matchmaking. A guy should be able to go into any playlist, ranked or otherwise, team or solo, and have something approximating a good time. There are many reasons why that’s more of an ideal than a reality, but it seems a tough line to take when you can’t find a place in team slayer or team skirmish or swat for a guy whose priorities may not include cut-throat, win-at-all-costs competition. Halo can be a lot more than that, regardless of the playlist. I’m only sorry that the developer seems to agree more with you than with me on this point. I’m not saying that competition and fun are mutually exclusive, but my experience with fifteen years of Halo tells me that they are. It’s a minority opinion, I know, but there you have it.

Technically, you don’t have to try or care in social because there’s no ranks on the line and you shouldn’t care about your stats. I even remember reading a 343 employee saying to come relax in social in one of the past updates which gave me a chuckle.
I don’t mind people trying to win, but I quit playing because I kept getting matches where people were treating it like ranked and going all in. It meant that I either try my best as well or get stomped and not have any fun at all so I’d rather not bother.

okay, but some playlist only exist in social. what if I like playing BTB, or Grifball, or even covey slayer? people who enjoying playing competitive wont just stop playing competitively because it’s social arena. I know that you take your chances when you play social that you may get crappy teammates. but the same is true both ways. you are taking a chance that you will get matched up against people who have a very competitive attitude towards their games. that’s why imo if youre not trying to win and just goofing off in social. (shooting teammates, running around like you don’t know whats going on, and just overall not playing properly. that behavior should stay in custom games. if youre not as good at the game as the next guy but youre trying to play that’s a different story.
I don’t really goof off in social unless I’m getting matched against some horrible people. I do try and win, but at the same time I’m not gonna play my best a lot of times so it’s kind of a semi-relaxed state of playing.
I know there’s competitive players, but 343’s current implementation for social’s matching isn’t very good and I think it needs to be changed. My idea would be to restrict high MMR players from playing low MMR players whenever possible, but that isn’t a perfect solution either.
