If nothing else that I hope for makes it into the next game, I’m at least asking for there to be no possible way to track KD. In halo 4 it seemed that’s all people cared about so much that they would play any playlist and camp rather than focus on objectives. Get rid of a record, and that may, hopefully, fix this problem.
They should keep KD displayed but make it less visible than CSR/ranking system. Maybe CSR then KD underneath it in smaller font? People need bragging rights. Its a good motivator to have your skill displayed. Keeps me wanting to achieve more.
The only reason people farm to feed KD in Halo 4 is because of the absence of True-Rank.
Add True-Rank, and all is solved.
Removing KD would be, IMO, negatively received by most fans.
Instead of abolishing the KD system completely, only make it possible to be effected during Slayer-based games, or certain gametypes. So if someone’s kill-farming on a CTF match, they’re only being… well, a kill-farmer. It won’t effect their KD.
Problem solved for both sides. Since KD is still important in ways. Getting rid of it completely wouldn’t fly too well with the majority.
Since Halo took a COD approach at gameplay with Halo 4 no wonder why camping is more prevalent. I remember during the old days of Halo when camping was such a rare activity to come across in Matchmaking. People would actually be using their mics, communicating with their teammates, using the vehicles, etc. to try and win, and sometimes the losing team would s**t-talk the winning team. Those were the days. Now Halo is copying the days of COD where camping is pretty much the only way to win by camping+sniping or camping+meleeing.
People aren’t camping because of their KD, it’s been in Halo all the time. People are camping because of terrible map creation. Clutter all over the place, little places to hide, ect.
If they make simple, symmetrical and competitive maps and also bring back in game skill ranks so people car about winning all is solved. It’s so simple it’s unbelievable, but 343 still failed.

this wont work. most people who are skilled and play ctf the way its supposed to be played will go positive. the honest players will want their KD to count in ctf. theres always gonna be a few dbag campers trying to boost in objective. the game design shouldnt be effected by them.
people scream camping if you’re not literally standing in the middle of the map getting shot at by everyone. lets not overreact

sigh
Nothing about Halo 4’s more class-based approach or visible K/D ratio (which isn’t even visible; it just shows how many kills and deaths you have in your service record) causes more camping. Camping has always existed.
Pointing the lack of people using mics on the lack of a visible skill rank isn’t valid either. The main reason on why people don’t communicate as much is because of features such as Part Chat being the default universal setting throughout the Xbox Guide. While your audio preferences may have mics set as ‘not muted’ by default, your voice settings in Xbox Guide are in Part Chat by default.
The problem lies with that a player is rewarded more for “lone wolfing” things and getting kills. With older games this was not the case because rank was based off of winning your games, rather than gaming your games.
If one were to re-introduce a ranking system (of any kind) that places the win at it’s utmost important factor, one would see a drastic drop in players that manipulate objectives and kill farm.

BTW, camping for knife kills isn’t a very effective tactic in CoD. It’s actually a really lousy one. Might want to stop spreading that around.
Lol one time in reach I was playing with this guy in reach who used the old grifball (8 players with mics) trick to get his kd ( no kraft pun intended) to 100. Than I played with him in slayer, and he raged BECAUSE HE DIED ONLY ONCE.
PLEASE TAKE AWAY KRAFT DINNER, oops I mean k/d.

NO I hate that I spent 5 mins in a game only to know I didn’t earn exp.

It happens to everyone.
Imo, the more statistics the better. Visible K/D worked fine in Halo 3… I wonder why… maybe that’s not the problem?

Visible K/D in Halo 3?

If it wasn’t visible post-game (wasn’t it?), it was definitely easily accessible via Bungie.net.
What I would really like to se is if t343 can make a multi state map to where you can play not only on the planet but also allow space combat at the same time.
K/D is the stat to rule them all, but often to the detriment of objective games. It’s far more important in slayer than it is in most objective games. Look, I get it’s important. But when you’re the only guy on your team trying to gain in the hill whilst the rest of your team are busy elsewhere, well, then it really detracts from the fun. I’m not saying K/D is the sole cause for the poor gameplay on their part, but it gets called out because, well, they’re killing and not moving the flag, taking the hill, whatever.
