I have a few questions about the Halo (5?) engine.
-
What will the game’s native resolution be? With the new hardware, I can see it running at 1080p, as opposed to Halo 4 running at 720p.
-
Will volumetric lighting be more “natural” and “smooth” (like in Halo 4), as opposed to “rough” and “sharp”, like in other games?
-
How sharp will/can models/textures be? I noticed that in Halo 4 (and many other games), the texture quality decreases significantly upon close inspection of a given character/texture. Will they look as good as they do from a distance?
-
WILL YOU FINALLY GIVE THE ENGINE SOME AWESOME NEW NAME!? Or will this also just be referred to as “engine”, “in-house engine”, or “proprietary tech”? A name would be pretty nice lol.
Graphics should be smooth and it must be on par or better with the new Killzone game.
1080p + 60 fps would probably be in Halo Xbo. 343 delivered on the visuals in Halo 4 there was about 5-7 times I had to stare at a scenery appreciating how good it was.

25% of my playtime was spent looking at rocks and lighting lol.
It’ll look good. That’s literally all you need to know.

Of course, but I like knowing everything about game engines lol.
I hope the textures are better, they nailed the lighting in H4, but the textures are horrendous. With better tech, I’m hoping to see some good detail in every object in the game.
Wow! A graphics thread without useless posts about how “graphics don’t make a game”. Let’s keep that up.
I’m hoping that the 60fps thing doesn’t have a huge impact on the quality of the graphics or scope of the game.
I’m hoping that we get something that goes at least a little bit beyond the quality of the best looking next gen games we have seen so far, as none of them really look fully next gen yet, due to being the first wave of games.
