Will ranks and quit penalties help bring the population back up on multiplayer?
No, too much BS with the launch and the amount of time for patches.
No. The ranking update is just to fix what’s in place. It won’t be put into other play lists for a while.
I’ll certainly play more. Don’t know about the rest of the population, though.
I think it will. Making things better over time, no matter how small the improvements, is a good thing. I think the game could attract back the base as well as newcomers if they had some commercials on youtube and tv.
I’m not a fan of the quit penalties… I’ll still play some campaign but I’m pretty much done with multiplayer.
It won’t unless there’s a massive media campaign to spread the good news and bring people back. How often does that happen? Companies won’t spend money to get people to play their games after they payed for it unless there’s further money to be made.

I’m so glad you’ll be staying away from matchmaking. I can’t wait for quitters to get punished for quitting again. I don’t get the reasoning for people being against quit penalties unless they quit often.

Again? The original trilogy had no penalties aside from losing exp.
Betrayal booting asap please!

Whatever man, not everbody wants quit penalties and I think they’re stupid. We are the consumers- We bought the product and now it’s their job to make it to where we want to play the game. Adding penalties and restrictions are just going to encourage what little remaining population is left to stop playing.
Yeah penalizing people will surely make them want to play more and stay.

Who knows? Maybe that will be the penalty. We haven’t been given a lot of information yet.
I may play more. Just hope they fix the player counts more so. 10 player rumble pit is such trash. It needs to be 6 players like it originally was and hopefully they make the H2A ranked list 4vs4 instead of this 5vs5 crap.

This is how I read the update as well. The April Content Update will NOT add ranks to other playlist, they are just going to tweak the rank already in place with H2A. In other words, Ranks Coming Soon…

I like your common sense…
I don’t think it will bring very many people back, but it may very well keep more people from leaving.
I don’t think anybody decided to give up on the MCC without a good reason, so bringing in ranks and penalties aren’t going make them reverse that decision. Hopefully it keeps more people from giving up on it though.

You’re wrong, people have been begging for quitters to be punished because it has become so rampant. If you enjoy people repeatedly quitting out of games then go ahead and stop playing matchmaking lol.

In halo 2 you lost rank, and in halo 3 you lost rank and exp. in halo reach you got a time restriction, and in halo 4 there was no penalty. The original trilogy did have penalties, they were just very minor ones.
The fact of the matter here, is that you are committing to a team effort when you launch the matchmaking search. if you’re gonna quit and ruin it for everyone then yes you deserve to be punished for that.
Unfortunately i feel nothing can be done to save MCC at this point. Too much of the population has been lossed, we might see the game become more enjoyable. But do to the lack players it’ll never be what it could have been.
I figured the game was “saved” with the last few updates of this year, just trying to save the population it has. I don’t see many, if any, people or hardcore Halo gamers coming back if they already returned the game. Not to forget the people who decided to return their Xbone over the 4 game disc. I highly doubt those individuals are up to purchasing it all again, they were fed up in the first place.
I would think MS and 343 will cut them and their losses and move on to sustain and improve the experience currently of MCC and move forward still with Halo 5. They know that’s where they need to focus anyways to being any new fans in, not to mention the marketing campaign train is already rolling.
I’m not a fan of penalties in video games for many justified reasons.
