News, future updates and changes to come. New information from Ske7ch

I don’t speed run. I’m only considering actual missions and not the running about in the open world when I say it’s short.

And like I said, the boost to the playerbase count is worth the tradeoffs, like the shop issues and a smaller volume of content at launch to me. Especially considering 343’s track record of doubling to tripling the amount of content in their games over the supported lifetime’s.

And I think (imo) we were given very high quality experiences in a small volume, rather than a larger volume of experiences that are all relatively poorly balanced (like I’ve seen many other games try to deliver).

Well, that would be where I said “aside from some higher up big-wigs,”. It’s common sense, statements from Community Reps notwithstanding. The people that design the game don’t market the game, and the people that publish the game are in charge of sales. Stroll around Reddit for a while; there have been plenty of people directly familiar with the gaming industry to provide first-hand testimony for this.

So then you set the bar insanely high? As I said prior, even isolating to the Main Missions, that was 12-15 hours. That is not short by any stretch of the imagination.

I don’t buy this. It seems like that armour was originally intended to be the default Yoroi armour (which is why item previews use that armour set), and was changed last-minute to be paid items instead due to the fan reaction to that set being positive.

It’s the same with the MKVII base armour originally being the same items we see on the HCS armour kits, which was eventually changed to instead put those items into the BP, or how BP marketing materials show armour that was originally supposed to be in the BP, but were later changed to be store items.

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense that don’t we have Mark VII helmets to start with, yet they used them for the HCS armor kits.

Spartans are way too slow.
Shotgun is not that strong.
Most of the new weapons are weak.
Can’t hit someone coming at you with a sword (like we used to do on Reach).

Spartans take too long to respawn.
Grenades are a Joke.

Glad they’re making an effort and communicating with us but most of this and not to be negative, still seems like double speak in a sense. They have changed stuff for the better which is great and a major step but to me it still seems like they knew people wouldn’t like a lot of the stuff on launch and purposefully didn’t tell the truth.

See I disagree. In my opinion I think 343 asked for a delay from Microsoft to which they agreed upon the stipulation they launch multiplayer as f2p and aggressively monetize it with a battlepass since they saw how much activision made with CoD and they pretty much told 343 this is how it’s gonna go or they can quit.

Yknow the Spartans move faster than they did in 3 right?

Your theory might be correct but I’ve seen no evidence of that.

If it weren’t within 343’s control then how could they commit to improving it?

Because there is now enough data regarding consumer dissatisfaction, which has more weight to publishers than the developer saying it’s a bad idea.

Sounds legit to me, especially that last part about losing minds. People need to keep them in order to live!

Because people are complaining enough on the forums and not buying in the numbers they? May not be enough to convince Microsoft but this is one of the most expensive games developed so they’d be willing to try anything to make money back.

As I said previously though, I’ve still not seen any evidence to suggest it’s Microsoft’s fault and that 343 were vehemently against it. All of the reports in the press point to 343 mismanaging the development of the game so without evidence I’m not going to be convinced that 343 had nothing to do with the F2P issues.

It’s a simple matter of understanding how games are made and published. As well, several other developers have voiced much the same experience; that it does not fall to the developer to market or publish the game. 343i is the developer, Microsoft is the publisher. The key difference between developer and publisher is that the developer creates the game whereas the publisher sells it. For large publishers like Microsoft, this includes every single aspect of monetization that comes with the game; from marketing, sales, and both micro and macrotransactions.

I want them to be faster xD

Well they best do something. Right now there is literally nothing to encourage me to keep playing regularly. Right now I have achievements like complete the battle pass and I’m enthusiastic since is there is literally nothing worth grinding for due to most of the content either being blocked by a premium battle pass or so far into the grind that it makes earning anything feel tedious. They said they understand and that it wouldn’t feel like a 2nd job and that’s exactly what 343i made Infinite feel like.

If they want future seasons to be ‘popular’ they then need to sort out season 1 first then learn from that. Sure I’ve said this before but the current launch all it does it make me want to play MCC more instead. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Incredible how the conversation has diversified

THANK GOD! I’ve been waiting for this. I have 100% campaign completion and I have completed the battle pass. So now I have nothing to do but work on challenges that mean nothing other than unlocking the weekly ultimate challenge (or wait on random events).

I DID spend a little extra to buy the ultimate battle pass or whatever that gives you tier skips…so that’s slightly my fault. That’s the only money I spent other than buying rockstar (vomit) and getting the cosmetics. Even if I hadn’t spent the extra $$$ on the ultimate battle pass with the tier skips, I’d be on about level 90 right now and I’d finish the pass this weekend. So I’m left in the “now what” crowd.

I’m ok with the F2P model, but 343 needs to understand that they just discouraged me from purchasing future ultimate passes…because I ran out of content. I now KNOW that the ultimate is a waste of money, because I can just get the regular pass and still complete it. Sooooo you just shot yourself in the foot for future battle passes.

Now…if I had a seemingly infinite amount of SPARTAN RANKS to grind through, it would be much less obvious that I wasted my money. I probably would have passively finished the battle pass and felt good about beating most people to level 100. Then I would continue to grind through spartan ranks. But instead, I’m left staring at “completed” stuff everywhere I go. And even worse, I’m watching my buddies that DIDN’T spend the extra money CATCH ME and it’s 100% out of my control. I have nowhere to go. So I’m slowly watching my paid for content become worthless. Sucks.

Spartan Ranks should have been available at launch. Super super sad about it. If I can’t grind, I can’t stay engaged. I’m sorry, but I gotta have the carrot or I get bored. Disagree if you want…but just rinse/repeating multiplayer can only hold my attention for so long. C’mon…we’re talking about stuff that’s been around since the beginning. Give me my darn Spartan Ranks, please!
