Newest Update Regressed?

It appears over the last few days I am having way more trouble joining parties…Also, my game is crashing 3 to 4 times a day because of issues joining matchmaking. Sometimes the menu will glitch and put the menu overlay over the screen even though I’m searching, which has led to crashes…Also when I get to the ‘creating teams’ section not everyone gets to the map vote screen and then their game crashes.

Anyone else having these issues?

Nope it’s not. It works fine. Played campaign, then a few games of H2A. Sorry OP is having troubles but the game is not so broken. That’s a lie that people like to perpetrate

I guess I’ll add this…Way more problems the larger the party gets. For example…was playing with 3 people and it was fine, added a 4th and the game crashed 3 times out of 5 games.

DSight - I see you commenting all over the place, and find it clear that you really enjoy anything Halo. That’s great, and I respect the fact that you log on here likely hoping to see all negative attitudes about anything Halo to be gone. It’s pretty obvious you just want Halo to flourish and continue, as you’ll continue to thoroughly enjoy it every step of the way.

I say all of that, because I don’t want to come across here as passing judgement on you. It’s sort of my disclaimer to tell you I’m not judging you; I respect your dedication to the franchise even. What I cannot seem to figure out is how or why you take this sort of stance when you make posts like the one I quoted above. As far as I can tell, you are not being sarcastic, and you are truly telling people this game is working well…“great” actually.

Look, I get that what you play, and how you use the game might not subject you to many of the issues within this game, but if you play multiplayer at all outside of Halo 4 - You ARE experiencing MANY of GAME-BREAKING type issues. I know you are, because NOBODY is immune from them. Nobody is immune because the issues are in NO WAY the result of people’s personal connections/locations/setup/etc. They are simply real problems that exist in this game, and you WILL experience them.

The only thing I can come up with to rationalize what you say in these sorts of posts is that you simply don’t KNOW/NOTICE you are experiencing them. That’s fine if this is the case. You post a lot/seem to spend a lot of time here. So I thought I’d offer you some legitimate information so you can know that what you’ve said in the post I quoted, is simply blasphemous; grossly untrue. Do we need random Yoink you threads? No of course not, but we also don’t need to be telling people this game is working great when it’s not. I’m assuming you love Halo, so I figure you understand why telling them it’s working just fine right now just isn’t what needs to be what any of us are doing…because it’s not. Details:

The Good News Today:
Q: Does the game start up?
A: Yes.

Q: Does it allow you to get into matchmaking games consistently?
A: Yes. I think it’s been that way for the major majority for a little while now.

Q: Does it do this in a reasonable time?
A: Yes, finally seems to be doing this for most of us, most of the time.

Q: Can we join friends, stay together after matches, hear each other in in-game chat?
A: All’s certainly been improved & nearing a satisfactory state.

Q: Are achievements popping?
A: Yes…I see very few complaints about this anymore, and I believe all of mine which were “stuck” have finally unlocked.

Q: Campaigns still freezing?
A: Not nearly as often. This has been improved.

Q: Is the game application still crashing?
A: Seems to vary with each monthly CU…Some are worse than others. Better, but it’s still an issue.

The Fundamental “Game-Breaking” issues (still with us today almost exactly 6 months after launch):

  • Halo CE
  • No nice way of saying this - CE Multiplayer is BROKEN (click here)
  • Halo 2
  • Hit registration, spawns, unique player call-signs (emblem), hit detection, almost entire melee system still busted
  • Halo 3
  • STILL running the day one build (pre-Bungie major TU - essentially fixed original Halo 3 MP). It’s fair to say H3 MP is nearly broken. H3 MP HAS to get that TU. Until it does, the MCC massively mis-represents it every single day. One other good example here - Legacy controls are STILL broken…they are UNUSABLE.
  • Halo 4
  • I honestly have no idea, but from what I hear H4’s MP has had the fewest problems of the bunch. Not trying to be anti-Halo 4, just not going to speak on what I truly haven’t the first clue about.
Cross-Game (most of these are not “game-breaking”, but still very frustrating nonetheless)
  • Ranks remain a mess (still getting reset, dropping ranks after wins).
  • Only 3 ranked playlists.
  • STILL NO file share browser (343 refuses to address specific questions about this)
  • BTB still 14 players, “Rotational” playlists “rotate” about once ever 2-2.5 months
  • Still no brightness settings
  • “Team Ball” been seen equally as much as “Team Doubles” & “Team Snipers”
  • “Team Objective” (& others) have been mentioned but yet to be seen.
  • Hardcore STILL remains a playlist w/only H2 (no H3 MLG…no H3 anything - H3 getting into Hardcore’s been “coming soon” since early Feb).
    Co-Op Sessions
  • Still a lot of freezing
  • Disconnections
  • Randomly ending sessions
  • Friends getting separated
  • Games freezing
  • Apps crashing
  • Randomly un-hittable/invincible enemy targets (and plenty others - I’m not a big co-op guy)There’s a lot more less severe issues I’m not going go into because there’s 1000’s of other threads, which have already done so (I’ve read TONS which go to great detail). The point is, you’re saying this game is working fine. Why? Listen, if you’re enjoying the hell out of this game, that’s awesome, and I truly mean that; it’s great…for you. Overall, this game has been improved quite significantly since launch, however despite all the improvements, this game (especially multiplayer) remains in absolutely poor condition. It’s a wreck, man. There’s just no other way to put it.

So, when I see someone who posts as much as you do, contributing so often and much to a Halo community…I just can’t understand why you’d tell people what is truly the opposite of the truth. I’m not condemning you or calling you out. I’d not put this much effort in this post if that were my intent. I just wanted to offer you the reasons why what you’re saying is not correct, and just ask you, Why are you repeatedly telling folks here this game works just fine?

(Really hoping I did not just type all that, simply bc I didn’t catch implied sarcasm).

I guess the D stands for Denial. Maybe the game works perfectly fine for you, but it sounds like it’s broken for the OP (among many others) and it’s definitely broken for me.

Velocityy, if by “crashing,” you mean freezing in the lobby shortly before the game can start, then yeah. That’s been happening to me quite a bit recently. Been happening on and off for months now, actually. Sometimes it doesn’t freeze, it just kicks out all the other players in the lobby and restarts the search. It’s pretty disheartening after 30 minutes to hours of searching. I’ve gotten so used to it that I intuitively know when it’s about to kick the other players out (it just takes a little too long to start the team-creating process) and then I’ll have a few seconds to wave goodbye to the other players before they go poof and vanish.

I have yet to experience the menu overlay thing. But I do often not get to vote because by the time it takes me to the voting screen, the decision’s already been made as to what map and gametype we get to play. I can’t say any of these things have gotten worse since the latest large update, though. The only negative change I’ve noticed since that update is that now, while I’m searching for a game, if my controller dies, the roster disappears and the only way I can get it back is by backing out. That’s not a big deal, though.

Good one. Very creative. Haven’t heard that one before.

^This.

Everyone who visits this site loves Halo. I think it’s time to accept the fact that this game will NEVER be 100% glitch free. I had hoped for the first few months that it could all be fixed. Six months later and I’m just glad the game is actually playable now. It’s sad but true. The game is not fine and it will never be “fine”

I’m not condemning you or calling you out. I’d not put this much effort in this post if that were my intent. I just wanted to offer you the reasons why what you’re saying is not correct, and just ask you, Why are you repeatedly telling folks here this game works just fine?

> Everyone who visits this site loves Halo. I think it’s time to accept the fact that this game will NEVER be 100% glitch free. I had hoped for the first few months that it could all be fixed. Six months later and I’m just glad the game is actually playable now. It’s sad but true. The game is not fine and it will never be “fine”

Unfortunate but I have to agree…it likely will never be “made right”.

DSight - You ever going to respond to my post? Or are you going to ignore it, and continue spreading misinformation around in other threads now?

>
>
Details:

that was one of the most mature posts i’ve ever read on these forums.

Sometimes the menu will glitch and put the menu overlay over the screen even though I’m searching, which has led to crashes…Also when I get to the ‘creating teams’ section not everyone gets to the map vote screen and then their game crashes.

>

By crashing I mean…makes that loud grinding sound and quits out to the dashboard. Almost like it’s eating the disc, but it’s not.

Anybody else notice they took elephants out of Sandtrap? What kind of garbage is that? I’ve noticed slight changes in the maps and playlists themselves, but the main game/ servers have not regressed for me at all.
