Newer Armor

instead of having perks, there should be a system where different armor has different traits. like, Defender armor would give you more health but slow you down, EOD should make you more resistance to explosive ordinance, Etc. this would be a very cool feature in Halo 5.

How about WE KEEP ARMOR JUST FOR LOOKS!!!

This sort of system wouldn’t work. Fans of infinity would be annoyed because they would have to switch their armour in order to switch their loadout. Fans of classic halo would be annoyed because of inconsistent player traits.

No. Terrible idea because it promotes more unbalanced gameplay. Armor is strictly aesthetic.

If we could, I would want the Halo 3 Eva to return and the Mauler.

Edit: As the person stated above me. Armor should be strictly aesthetic.

Dude you forgot the Brute Shot!!! I’d like to see the Brute Shot replace the concussion rifle. And I don’t want any armor to have affects on gameplay it should be purely cosmetic.

That would add a whole layer of randomness. It should stay purely aesthetic.

Holy hell nooooo. Armor should only be ascetic. Classes, armor abilities, and perks are bad enough, the last thing we need is to add another element of randomness in the game. Multiplayer should be a simple formula.

Guns.
Grenades.
Melee.

Two teams enter. The more skilled team leaves victorious. Boom. Perfect multiplayer. As long as that formula is left in tact where we all start on leveled playing grounds, Im all for 343i adding innovation and new ideas to keep the multiplayer fresh. As long as they don’t damage that formula.

Let me restate, I am NOT opposed to change, I don’t want a carbon copy of Halo 3 (a remake would be nice though), I want a brand new Halo 5 with an innovative multiplayer that takes a different route than the path Halo: Reach and Halo 4 started.

Absolutely not. If armor did what it did in-story, then it would punish creativity. For example, if the Pioneer helmet gave you a 10% shield boost, I guarantee everyone would use that ugly helmet because it works better than Mark VI. Armor should stay aesthetic.

Plasma Rifle and decent-looking ODST armor. Also decent-looking armor, period. Maybe take a couple pages from Reach’s book in that area.

Also: no, no, no. Armor should stay cosmetic only.

I have been playing around with the idea in my head trying to figure out a way for it to work. The only ways that I could see it being implemented is if the changes were so minuscule that they didn’t alter gameplay. I’m talking like 2-5%. On top of that, stacking equipment with the same bonus should result in a penalty, where if the first piece added 5%, the next one should add 3%, the next and any additional only adding 1%. In addition, such modifications should be non-compounding.

Implementing such a change would have to be introduced to Halo gradually so as to not create more if the inevitable “I refuse to buy this game unless X ultimatum is met” threads. If 343I is truly moving towards a more ‘canon’ multiplayer experience, then I believe that such an addition will eventually find its way into the game.

The best way to implement this would to be, at first, only have a couple base mechanics that it would modify. Some of these being stuff such as motion tracker range/sensitivity, RDR, agility (i.e. strafing acceleration and sprint acceleration), base health (not shields), melee animation speed, bullet magnetism, flinch, and other aspects where having a 5% increase in their effectiveness will certainly be greatly welcome, but they would not break gameplay or even be truly noticeable to anyone short of anyone with a degree.

It would also be best to not tell the player to what extent the equipment augments their Spartan and ot only give them a general idea of what it could potentially do. This would further prevent players from stacking armor to get specific traits at the cost of being aesthetically pleasing. The preference based on appearance, coupled with the veil of an unknown quantity, would greatly prevent such perversions to customization.

There are, of course, a lot of other methods that would probably work a lot better than my proposed method, but this is merely my own attempt to make it plausible.

Something else I thought of was only allowing armor modifications in certain playlists and SpOps. This would allow for more classic games and for games that have more diversity. Personally, I would probably hang out more in the ‘recreational’ gametypes that have the added benefits of armor specialization. Such small bonuses could go a long way in a 64-player game on next-gen consoles (another wishlist item for me xD)

There isn’t much to be said other than this. :\

The majority is already throwing Infinity and perks into the Fire of Don’t-Bring-Back, and to have armor now contribute to the randomness?

I may be a supporter of personal loadouts, but this takes it too far. And I wouldn’t want to wear Defender to get more health. I never liked that helmet…

People are already furious about the randomness and such that comes from personal ordnance and perks and you want to add to that with traits to different armor pieces? That is just crazy.

At most I think the different helmets could have an option for a slightly different HUD when equipped, but even that is cosmetic and I’m still on the fence about it. In any case armor should remain purely cosmetic.

Perks were just fine. But armor-specific perks? No.

If you think about it, Halo is set up perfectly for a RPG installment…

All I want is some armor to dress up with, my weapon, great maps and playlists.

The Storm rifle replaced the plasma. I think there isn’t going back with it.

Yeah please don’t bring statistics for different armor. Look up Spartan Warfare and you’ll see what it can do.

I can’t decide since there’s so many good weapons however the Hayabusa should go cause that was only once in a lifetime Halo armor to celebrate Ninja Gaidan so it shouldn’t come back. I would have to say new armor with some old ones. I like to see the Flamethrower in both campaign and multiplayer though.

However the poll should be about armor only since that is what you’re asking. For weapons it should be different so it’s hard for me to decide what armor should come back over a weapon that’s why I had to vote for the Flamethrower. Maybe make a second poll with weapons for us to vote would help and this one be armor only?

Not 100% convinced about that. Halo 2 removed the Assault Rifle, and it came back in Halo 3. It could happen.
