I’m soon going to get a copy of Halo 4, but I don’t plan on buying the Season Pass or any DLC content. So my question is: Will I be satisfied with how much release content there is?
So things I’m considering is,
Is there enough maps?
Enough game modes?
Unique or cool things that separate Halo from any other shooter?
I’m just wondering because Gears of War: Judgment was very sad, and had barely any release content. Even with the Season Pass, it barely scraped by as a full retail game. I always thought the Halo series was amazing but I never owned a copy of any Halo, with the exception of Halo 3. But at the time, I didn’t have Live so half of the game’s excitement was gone. Anyways, will I be satisfied and still be playing this game and ENJOYING it for months to come?
I might invest in the Season Pass if I think Halo is a great game, which I’m sure it is, because I always have fun playing it when I’m at a friend’s place. Also, could someone explain, if I were to get the Pass, what content I will receive?

There are enough maps, though unfortunately people are incredibly unimaginative and the same ones always get voted every time they come up which gets incredibly dull sometimes.
There’s a very wide variety of gametypes. More than any other shooter out there. There’s 4-5 slayer mode variants (deathmatch/kill to win) and about a dozen different objective games from CTF and King of the Hill to player-created custom games.
Halo is very different from most other shooters. It’s more about positioning, teamwork and consistent aim that MMS games like CoD and BF3 which are more about just starting to shoot before the other guy.
> The game has low to no population and the game isnt tactical in anypoint. there are a lot of game modes but almost all are on low population.
Low population doesn’t mean crap because you still find games within 1 minute of searching. Usually around 20 seconds. And the only other shooters with more population than Halo last I checked were CoD.
Really dude, H4 has it’s issues but your arguments are terrible.
Ok, this game is a great game. There are plenty of maps to play on. The only problem that I have with Halo 4 is the music. There aren’t too many really sad or inspiring tracks to listen to. However, the game as a whole is excellent and worth the money. I don’t own any DLC aside from Forge Island, and it’s great fun playing these games. Don’t listen to anyone who says it sucks. You won’t know until you play it. Obviously, there are some who like it and some who don’t. You may really like, or you may hate it. It is all up to your tastes. Personally, I am really lenient, but I have had hard life lessons. It is obvious that time has not taught many whiners patience…or tolerance.

Thanks for posting! Do you think you could explain some of the issues? Major, or minor?
> Dont buy the game its a waste of money ;). I have made the same mistake. if you realy want a new game go buy Borderlands 2 or anything.

Don’t listen to this troll. Only a real troll would dislike a game and still hang around in the forums for the game.
OT- I would recommend you getting the game. It’s a lot more enjoyable now than before due to a weapon tuning update that created a much needed weapon balance.
Lots of playlists and a fair amount of maps. If you’re a newcomer to Halo you won’t be too good in the beginning but don’t let that demoralize you. You will get better and remember to have fun with it. Every kill has been as satisfying as the first. And that’s what keeps me around and hopefully you as well.

Low population leads to more lag. The less people with good connections the more you will lag. Have fun in you 300 pop playlist.
I remember when I first started Matchmaking. I played Grifball in Halo 4. It was so awesome. I love Halo 4. It becomes better every second of every day. I’d like to see Halo 3 improving as much. Maybe the community may not think so, but they can’t stand not getting everything they want, I’ve noticed. Thinking of them makes me think of the phrase “You can’t always get what you want, but sometimes, just sometimes, you can get what you need”. I believe that this is enough from my behalf. Enjoy your new game. You’ll love it.
As for the low population, that’s not the fault of the game, but rather the fault of the community’s reaction, which, I believe, was a little overdone. The low population made other players look at the stats and think “Oh noez! Halo 4 is dying! I better jump ship!” @#$%$#@#% domino effect.

Sure.
Minor:
-Some people complain that lag is an issue, but I rarely get lag and that’s despite me having a pretty bad internet connection. Maybe 1 in 10 games is laggy, but then I just quit and join one that isn’t.
-People vote for the same maps which can get redundant if you play a lot. If you only play a few games a day it’s not as noticeable.
-Some spawn weapons are WAY better than others. The battle rifle and light rifle in particular pretty much excel over all the others. The battle rifle is my favorite gun so I’m cool with it, but other people are bothered by it.
Major:
-Certain armor abilities are overpowered and abused heavily. Camo (cloaking) is the worst, hopefully 343 will patch this soon but I’m not sure if they will.
-The matchmaking system is rather flawed and can randomly put you in games in progress that are almost over (I just joined a game about an hour ago that ended 3 seconds after my first spawn). You can also get very lopsided teams where a bunch of newer or less skilled players will be up against a full team of very good players and get completely stomped. Since I’m one of those skilled players it bothers me less, but my victims I’m sure are less than enjoying themselves in those games.
> If you got the pass, you would receive 9 extra maps and 2 bonus helmets. It costs 2000 MSP, or $25 USD.
Thanks! Yes, I just read up on that. Is it worth it? I know other games are worth the Season Pass, but maybe since the game has been out for about a year now, with DLC separating the regular content players, wouldn’t there be a lower population? I’m considering it.

Yet you have 9 days and 17 hours of game time. Seems like you’re not having any fun at all. People like you, I don’t understand. Trash a game and all you seem to do is play it, very hypocritical. You had nothing good to say but you play that much.

I played last night in a playlist with 60 population and had no lag. The majority of Halo players are in the US so lag is less of an issue than every keeps trying to pretend it is.
And Halo’s population isn’t “low”. It’s still one of the most played shooters on XBL.
If you’ve never owned a Halo game(for it’s XBL mp) any Halo is perfect to start out with. It may take some time to get used to the kill times and such if you’re used to playing other games but all in all it’s a good game. People usually like their first Halo game the best when it comes to MP. At least from most of the people I’ve talked to. The campaign is good enough to hold your attention too. The game is also cheap at many places now so it’s very much worth the $40 price point. Much more than any other new game at the same price point.
