Hey guys, just messing around in Forge, wondering if you could clear some things up for me. I can’t find the information anywhere.
- Is it correct that using ‘Phased’ or ‘Fixed’ on items like weapons and Armor Abilities is a bad idea? It seems to make they behave unlike normal weapons and such.
- Without using ‘Phased’ or ‘Fixed’, you can’t place stuff on the wall, right?
- Without using ‘Phased’ or ‘Fixed’, it’s impossible to rotate Armor Abilities, right? They keep snapping back into the same orientation.
- There isn’t anything like a ‘sword stand’, (you know, the little object on which Swords hover on official maps) right?
- There isn’t anything like a rack for jet packs (as found in for instance the level ‘The Package’, on the wall of that base), right?
Wanted to make alternative versions of maps with Armor Abilities on the ground, and (to play without armor abilities in loadouts), but it’s a lot more complicated than I had thought.
Thanks in advance!
Fixed or Phased pickups can only be taken once if I remember correctly, after that they can no longer be used and stand where they are.
The gravity stands aren’t in the game at all (unless it’s unused) .
No rack but I don’t think the thing do anything to make them not move, it seems to be exactly like previous Halos : nothing can push pickups (placed on the map) but once the player take one, they behave like an object/weapon that can move.
You can place a phased or fixed pickup in the air, stop holding and set to normal. The thing should stay in the air as long it’s not disturbed but shouldn’t respawn and float again, it will simply fall.
Thank you!
So for maps where the item only needs to be picked up once, you have more options. But I was thinking of Team Slayer maps, so I guess I’ll just have to put everything on the ground. Perhaps I’ll try an opened box to put the AA’s in (as in campaign).
Think the jetpack looks especially bad on the floor, might try to put them on boxes/ledges or something as well.
Phased/Fixed pickups still have the behavior after being taken, a weapon will float and can block movement as long it’s there.
Just in case anyone else wants to start using Forge, I found this neat beginner guide to Forge:
Part 1 - Part 2
I knew most of that, but it certainly would have been helpful if I saw it before I ever went into Forge.

Thanks for the link, dude. I knew some of it but a lot of it was still helpful.
