New xp update sucks

Don’t have shop items rotate. Anybody who wanted a white spartan is experiencing FOMO if they didn’t buy that bundle the first week. Just let players browse. This is only going to get worse as more tings become available to buy.

For #2, I do want to say that that could incentive objective stalling. Not capping a flag because you get more XP for waiting and farming kills.

Yep, which is why I’m not completely against the current system.

I personally would rather have slower XP and less focus on it, then lots of XP and everybody focusing on it.

I won’t defend the microtransactions, but I don’t know why people don’t seem to understand that they will never give us a constant “200 exp for winning” because they want us playing the game.

An exp inflation would just cause us to go through the battlepass way too fast and then we will be complaining about not having things to unlock because we are already done with the progression.

I understand the concerns about progression, but they can’t be solved quickly because there needs to be a balance. This new update rewards people that play daily, even if just one hour or two. It doesn’t rewards people that grind the game, and yes I think there should be a way to reward them, but it can’t be solved in a day. Giving exp left and right is not a solution either, it will become a problem in the future if that happens.

Dude… The ranked matchmaking playlists provide you a rank, you go up and down based on your performance. I think tying cosmetic rewards to in-game performance would be an absolutely horrendous system, as it is now you’re essentially rewarded for completing matches, win or lose. Regardless of the weekly/daily challenges and how much XP they grant this is a perfectly fair system. I see no reason why me and some noob who is playing Halo for the first time should progress any slower or faster than one another other than to give me a false sense of superiority that I can signal by equipping the latest cosmetic item I’ve unlocked.

To speak to those who hate predatory monetization, rewarding faster progression to those who play better in-game can only further incentivize newer or worse players to spend money to level up the battle pass. By having better players progress faster than worse players they’d be fomenting FOMO.

If they’re going to give XP for winning matches those XP payouts should be miniscule. I don’t hate your idea of adding a daily challenge for winning matches that’s repeatable, but I think at most it should provide 50 XP.

You didn’t ask me, but let me answer your question anyways;

why are you playing competitive multiplayer if you don’t like the idea of rewards based on skill?

I like playing competitive multiplayer games because there’s always someone better than you, and there’s always room to grow. My reward for playing well in a match is winning the match and advancing my rank or MMR to play ever-better players. XP and cosmetics are externalities that can be fun to chase but are ultimately meaningless. You said it yourself;

the whole game premise is based on rewarding players with a win or a loss based on skill.

The reward is the win… or loss as you astutely commented. Give me end of season rewards based on the highest rank I achieve, don’t pad my XP because I played better. I like that the current daily challenges/rewards incentivize completing the match and nothing more. The weekly challenges need some serious work, maybe if we had all the core Halo matchmaking playlists we’re used to they wouldn’t be as bad, but as it stands they incentivize quitting to try and get the game-mode you need for a challenge, or performing in-game actions that don’t contribute to your teams success.

I think this is a more than reasonable band-aid fix for the system as it initially launched on the 15th. The first change seemed to be responding to peoples qualms about not getting XP every match, resulting in less XP total over the span of a dozen games. This change at least recognizes that progression felt slow and as the system was did not properly incentivize people to play until the next week after completing weekly challenges.

They keep it at 50xp per game, and then an additional 50xp if you win. This is literally all they have to do to make people happy and the are still refusing to do that. They want you to buy into the BattlePass system.

So you are literally complaining about them taking a step in the right direction? If you remember yesterday you only got 50 xp per match and now u get an extra 750 a day just for playing. I bet ur the kid at Christmas who whines he got a red Xbox when he wanted the blue one too.

Lmao this game won’t last long or have many players if this continues.

Okay, it’s true: This community will literally complain about everything. They implemented a change that is only positive. There’s NO DOWNSIDE to any player.

And now we get a 130 reply thread called “New XP Update Sucks.”

I swear to god.

Didn’t Reach have an xp cap per match, so farming would eventually become useless?

It also had a daily XP cap. It was abysmally small at first, but was raised to 200k per day afterwards.

it really seems like 343 are trying to re-invent the wheel whiles also following gaming trends as a base… i get halo is meant to be unique amongst other fps games, but so far… infinite ain’t unique and quite honestly worse. i’m better off playing prior halo games than this

if what continues? they continue to improve?

343 implements a change that makes it take 6 daily matches to level up instead of 20.

also while I get the hate towards lack of customization…
what is wrong with just…playing the game? I play like 2-3 hours a day because I have more stuff to do then just play halo

While this is a step in the right direction now we’re limited to 7 games… minus other challenges I think the minimium for the ‘daily’ challenge should be 75 not 50… I can see 100 making it too fast but 50 is too low considering once you finish the weekly challenges that’s literally all you have which does not really incentivise playing the game also there’s still no incentive to do well in a game or even win a match…

but there is
it makes me happy
losing makes me sad

That’s not an incentive everyone gets…

but that is how dopamine works

Not everyone gets a dopamine rush for winning a utterly meaningless game
