New xp update sucks

The OP is referring to last week when 343 implemented a slight change to the Challenges, which put a Daily Challenge of “50XP per match completed.” This was done because if you didn’t finish any challenges, your progress wouldn’t go up at all even if you completed several games in a row.

Oh I was misled into thinking that was something new, thx

Yes, this exactly. The from-the-ground-up changes are going to take real time. I’m just glad that they built the MP from the ground up with the ability to issue fast fixes like this while they can internally test and iterate on future larger updates to the whole system.

That’s a blam-in’ shame.

@AMAX_Reptile no, this is referring to a change coming tomorrow. A pretty significant boost to single match xp gains for the first 6 matches each day.

I’m pretty sure that update is dropping in 15 minutes

That’s better I guess, too bad I’m already getting burned out on Infinite’s MP though

Oh, you might be right. I just saw the post this morning that said the change would be “tomorrow”, but it was posted last night.

It wasnt their choice. It was Microsoft, there’s a reason they heavily dislike the whole system and its a clear presence in their Tweets and Discussions about the game. It doesnt feel like they like what they have produced. It was most likely Microsoft wanting to capitalize on the new generation of gamers and microtransactions.

they already told us that this is “for now” fix. I hope big changes are coming but they will take time, first they need to convince the higher ups in 343 and make a new way to make money.

Im, “ok” with this. I certainly prefer this to win only 50 exp forever

I feel like they either haven’t made that code, finished it, or are sitting on it until Microsoft gives the OK to make the game better.

It encourages people to play a few games a day, I like it as a temporary quick fix. Most of us are actual productive members of society and can’t play a video games for several hours every day.

I think the System ness to be switched. Where the XP Gains go UP the more matches you play, not go down in XP for more matches you play.

No, this would only further motivate people to unhealthy lengthy play sessions. A few hours a day is all most people will be able to fit in anyways. If you want to play for 8+ hours a day, then do it for fun, not for more efficient meaningless xp gains.

The Content isn’t in the Battle Pass System. The Content is Maps, Weapons and activities. Personally, I’d still play infinite if the system allowed to me complete the battle pass within the week.

Agreed. A system where the longer you play, the more XP you get, isn’t healthy. Folks who have classes or work most of the day and then only have so much time after that (and the commute back home, and classwork, and/or taking care of their kids, and making dinner…) for games shouldn’t get the vibe that they’re being punished for having a daily routine.

It’s only 1000 xp to level up. Youd level up every 3 games if they did that.

I agree, the XP update is a step in the right direction

I’ve seen a lot of entitlement in my time, but yikes I think this takes the cake.

A common trope within gaming communities is that players within love to claim their community is toxic to seem self aware of the issues within, and usually they’re just exaggerating the problems and it’s really not as bad as they make it seem.

There’s a distinct lack of self awareness within these forums, and it’s not at all surprising given posts like this.

I agree, I highly doubt it’s worth fixing the current system.
Starting from scratch - and this time with a simpler approach - would be more efficient.

It reminds me of the “Sunk Cost Fallacy”: When you invest quite a lot in something, you rather double down because you think “I invested so much, I can’t lose now!”, instead of just admitting your mistake. And by that you lose even more.

I somewhat understand that they want to sell Boosts and Swaps, but if you just offer great content for a fair price, you don’t need such tricks.
