New xp update sucks

Sure, but you spelled out the real problem. The challenge system. Fix that, and the game and player base will fall back into place.

Every Halo game released has new Halo players. And this has never been a problem.

The biggest problem is that there isn’t really such thing as “optional bonus XP”. If it exists, people will, with good reason, effect their gameplay to chase it.

And teamwork comes in many different flavors. Many of which aren’t trackable or rewarded as is. And many players have different strengths/rolls on the team. The flag carrier, sniper, driver, gunner, pusher/aggressor, etc. all contribute to the flag capture. Incentivizing people to switch up how they are playing just so “it’s my turn to cap” is BAD. Getting that critical snipe, or grapple sword could be MORE impactful to a successful capture, considering many smooth captures require 0 effort from the actual flag carrier.

And XP is different this time around. It’s ONLY useful for an optional battle pass. And being a top 10% player shouldn’t give me any edge on completing it over a bottom 10% player. Especially considering that the bottom 10% player is going to be trying WAAAAY harder then I am for any given match.

I almost feel like this fix is an over correction to make up for the fact that their last “bandaid” actually severely reduced the amount of daily XP you could acquire. Make the most of it cause who knows how long it will last lol.

For me this is a good change since most days I only have an hour to play. And I don’t got the money to spend on xo boost.

So you live a healthy life and not play all day haha nah they just want your money.

Just do like I do and buy a Rockstar is they’re available. I drink them anyway so getting 2xp boosts from them is helpful.

With a 2xp boost, you’ll easily get 2 tiers a day from your first 6 matches alone.

I hope y’all realize that your precious “performance xp” system is just going to make everyone complain about SBMM and sweaty games.

Did you not read the rest of the tweet? This is just a temp fix, a better one too from the previous temp fix. But like most others, you must have not read the entire message and just focused on what you wanted to focus on, hatred.

Wish I could but I don’t have the money, to go this route… As of right now I can’t afford Christmas gifts for my wife or a anniversary gift. I am doing everything I can to save money, since both happen in December. I can afford to waste money on produce I can even drink. Caffeine puts me to sleep. It is great for those days I can’t fall asleep. I was lucky enough I still had gift cards from my Birthday earlier this year to continue my game pass up to March next year and buy halo infinite since I like having physical copies of games.

We all know it’s gonna be the same as these last two fixes. They are just monitoring how fast people are progressing and how many are buying boosts and skips till they find a happy medium.

Wow you can see the future?!

I would pay $80 just to avoid all this.

I would pay $1,000 to avoid all this!

Just kidding. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

No. This is just a bad idea.

“Beating others” should NEVER be a players focus in any given match… that’s far worse then the challenge system.

Getting the W should be the core focus of any given match. Especially for Arena. And that often means taking a position/strategy that very well could mean that your individual “stats” at the end of the game are going to be lower then other players on your team. That in no way means you contributed any less to the W.

So while I could see getting some bonus XP for winning the match, it should end there. The entire problem currently is that players are caring more about their individual challenge progress and K/D.

I mean by the ends of a couple seasons many people probably will spend $1000

Its going to be bad forever. This is the inherent problem with going F2P and having a battlepass. Fortunately I have no interest in the battlepass so unlocks and leveling mean nothing to me, but ya, unless the battle pass magically goes away this challenge system and slow grind isn’t gonna go anywhere. The Halo of old is no more. Welcome to modern F2P BS.

its way better then the current 50 per match is it perfect? no but it is a step in the right direction

Uh, I like it. Win or lose you’re leveling up guaranteed per day. Challenges for the extra mile. Pop an XP boost for like, four guaranteed levels.

I would propose a simple Overall Ranking system that uses military grades, similar to what Reach had. Something like: Corporal>>Sergeant>>Lieutenant>>General etc and each Grade up gives you an emblem, armor, boost, or stance. (you know… like the stuff they had in previous games) EDIT: These Overall Ranks don’t need to be used for Ranked game matches, only as an extra incentive for players to work towards through Social and all of the other playlists. Ranked playlists can most likely stay separated if that would be better for players looking for a closer skill gap.

And then by adding weapons/vehicles/objective-based challenges(similar to commendations in previous games), the players can be further rewarded for their skill. Example: If you get 25/50/100 Headshots with BR or Sniper you unlock a weapon charm, weapon skin, or specific weapon stance and if all is unlocked after that maybe more Challenge Swaps?

These things could exist on top of the poor system they have in place now and it shouldn’t effect the stores cosmetic revenue. There are so many ways to make this new Infinite system work both in favor of 343/Microsoft making money and the players getting what they want.

I’m playing right now and I don’t understand what has changed?

What I don’t understand why they would not make these an extra objection for wins, not just playing games but actually winning the games. This would encourage people to actually play the objective. Why is this so difficult for 343? I cannot understand how they always find new ways in every release to be incompetent.
