Reason being a system like that takes longer to build than just dialing up per match XP. This current fix is just a band-aid till more changes can be done later.
I would like to unlock my items in this lifetime, and without further use of my credit card, aside from the 30 bucks that was given. That was a good faith payment and Iâm getting a real poor return on my investment.
Poorly clearly. Nobody is denying that. But if you canât see that theyâre starting make moves to resolve it, then I donât really know what more to tell you.
This is the point Iâve been trying to make. From a programmtic standpoint itâs more complicated than bolting on rewards to the existing system.
they already fluffed this battle pass pretty hard to get 100 levels with xp boosts and challenge swaps, and it clearly wasnât because their wasnât content available. They just determined that youâd need all the help you could get to get through the battle pass I guess. Iâm pretty curious to see their take on 300 levels.
they bolted on a reward challenge within a week of the soft launch. sell that somewhere else, Iâm not buying it.
They had 6 years? how much more time would they need?
a reasonable response, I hope youâre right. I have doubts based on what Iâve seen so far.
The mechanism for X amount of matches was already in the game, they just changed the frequency it awarded XP from 2 games to one. Theyâre making that exact same tweak again only the frequency it awards XP has been altered to a larger amount and then conditionally reduced. I imagine the only thing they had to manually add was an integer for âGames Played Todayâ. They could even take the playerâs current matches (which is a value we know they have) and work from that.
possiblyâŚbut how hard is copy/paste, alter play to win, and use 2 daily challenges instead of one? certainly seems easier than adding conditions.
Personally I disagree. The XP system is already fairly rewarding as it is. And this new update is only going to make it better.
For perspective, Iâm already level 27 on my BP. In the first two weeks of the âbetaâ⌠With 23h played.
Is it perfect? No. But 100xp or even 200xp is crazy talk. I would already be at rank 70+.
For me, the battle pass is working exactly as I would want it to. Every day I play, I essentially always unlock a thing or two. With this new change, itâs going to boost that to 3 or 4 items a day.
If they would just fix the actual challenge system, I personally think the game and XP system would be near perfect.
The reward for having a 3.5 KD in a match, and 3 flag captures should literally be the stats themselves. I donât like, and will likely never like the idea of trying to drip feed players different levels of rewards based on skill. And the challenge system already is doing that.
Honestly it depends on whatever code mess the game currently resides it, youâd be surprised how inflexible an architecture can become when youâre rushing to meet deadlines under industry pressure. They also have to implement a system that doesnât compromise the integrity of the product theyâve build so that it continues to function as expected.
Donât get me wrong all eyes are on 343 to back up their commitment with hard results, but we wonât see those results for a little while yet.
why are you playing competitive multiplayer if you donât like the idea of rewards based on skill? the whole game premise is based on rewarding players with a win or a loss based on skill. I do believe the challenge system is a hot mess and sorting that out will take time. but as far as a band aid fix goes, this ainât it chief.
maybe youâre right, but if itâs this bad now how were they even pretending they were launching a year ago? Itâs been 6 years and one of those years was extra time. If there was still a rush then there is something wrong with 343 as a whole.
Thatâs my entire point. The reward should 100% the rank and competition itself. Basing BP progression is a terrible idea.
Just because I can compete at a higher level, doesnât mean I think my friends that arenât very good should suffer through slower progression. Skill level should have as close to nothing to do with it.
Now, if some cosmetics were locked behind some ranked tiers? Sure. I could get behind that. But the BP has no place for it.
Why??? Why is it so hard to make a good decision over there? A better solution would be to change the per match to 100xp and to give a second daily challenge that repeats infinitely of winning a match for 200xp.

Iâm with you here, and itâs a problem thats industry wide at the minute. Thereâs a lot of things that contribute to delays in industry. Unforseen complications, technical inability, new staff, inexperienced staff, staff illness, investor pressure, scope creep all sorts. And unfortunately many businesses opt to cut corners to copy with the time lost due to any combination of these issues, and itâs the wrong approach but itâs the one most game companies are having to resort to so that they can push a product and regain some semblance of control post game.
The BP also shouldnât be a full-time job to unlock. the matchmaking is supposed to keep the win/loss ratio in check so you donât hate the game because youâre always being matched against pros based on location/time/bad luck. so the only people that would progress exponentially faster would be severe outliers.
Much appreciated, thank you.
But it isnât. The problem is that people want the BP to be unlocked yesterday. For something that is designed to take 3 months minimum.
I WANT it to be there in January next year when Iâm still playing. But the fact is, with the old system, I would already be rank 100 by the end of Dec. With people that play 7 hours a week hitting rank 100 a few weeks into January.
With this update today, thatâs already likely going to push me to rank 100 the week after campaign launch. With people playing half as much as I did hitting rank 100 by end of the year.
Which is why the core issue that I see is the Challenge system itself. Make the challenges more accessible, and less time/skill demanding, and I honestly feel the BP would self correct.
