I totally see your point.
I actually do feel that this is excessive reward for no effort on our part. A complete misunderstanding of what we need, by 343i.
Rather than implement a 100xp-or so daily that can be repeated 10 times a day for winning, they just decided to HAND OUT xp, which is not really what we want.
They heard “Battle pass progression too slow” and tried to appease the masses instead of address the health of the community.
I believe otherwise. I believe the people do know what they want. That’s not an excuse for making such a dogwater progression system to incentivize a monetization scheme literally no one asked for. If they made the games progression easier and the playerbase gets mad at 343i for making a game lacking in content, the anger is rightfully placed because they did nothing but lie to us from the get-go. They said they were going at this with a “player first mentality”, but all they’ve shown us is that they only care about profits. INB4 “It’s f2p, bro. Calm down. The full game isn’t even out yet”. This excuse does absolutely nothing to absolve them from the literally mess they’ve created for themselves by insulting the community with such a lackluster experience. Coupled withr the fact that if they decided to remove the paywall for items, armor sets and pieces at the store, there would easily be more content. But you know, “they have to make money somehow” by incentivizing bad progression to force players to buy boosts or literally spending money to level up. Here’s how they can make the freakin’ money: by releasing the game at a playable state and without the gimmicks & schemes that they’ve implemented in the first place. Because either way, they’re still making money from releasing a game that you paid for. They still get the money from the sale of the actual game. All these excuses that people come up with do absolutely nothing to shield 343i from the white-hot anger they created within their player-base and quite frankly, I’m tired of all the excuses.
You could just start a game and not play at all and still get the same reward at that point we need some incentive to play the game like a win bonus or something. or a medal bonus
In Halo Reach, the xp payouts was designated the following classes.
Completion
Performance
Commendation
Slot Machine
Challenges
Out of these classes, the first and second class called Completion and Performance is given solely based on time played where the Completion credit payout is universal and the Performance credit payout was only given from playing certain playlists and is 20% of the Completion payout when it exists. The Completion credit payout could be classified into 3 main categories where the first is the default Matchmaking payout which was given for every full minute played of matchmaking up to and including 15 minutes. The second class was a matchmaking payout which is 2 times higher than the default and is given in playlists with the Performance XP payouts which meant that the payouts in these matchmaking playlists is 2.4 times higher than the default. The third class of XP payouts is the none matchmaking payout which for everything played outside matchmaking and is 35% of the default matchmaking payout per minute played and will only be given for every full minute played up to 10 minutes.
The third class of credit payouts are payouts given for contributing towards completing commendations. For these payouts, a one time bonus is given for reaching the Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Onyx commendation milestones. In addition to this payout, a small amount of credits will also be given when contributing towards the commendations which is applied universally for the Multiplayer and Firefight commendations (even when the commendations are maxed) and will only be given for the Campaign commendations are the Bronze tier or below.
The forth class called the Slot Machine is a random payout given for finishing a game that has at least lasted 2 minutes. The payout is in average a bit above 500 cR/game and can be divided into the following classes.
Class 1: (P≈75%): Approx. uniformly distributed payout between 150 and 399 cR
Class 2: (P≈20%): Approx. uniformly distributed payout between 500 and 999 cR
Class 3: (P≈5%): 3000 cR
The fifth and last class of credit payouts is given for completing pre defined weekly or daily challenges. At any given time, the player has access to 4 daily challenges and 1 weekly challenge where the credit payout from Daily challenges range from 1-10,000 cR (in average around 2,000-3,000 cR) and weekly challenges that has a credit payout that range from 10,000-30,000 cR (in average around 15,000-20,000 cR).
And because of all of these different forms of payouts, relying on challenges was not necessary for people that were just trying to relax. I don’t remember ever stressing about Reach’s challenges.
In Halo Reach, the Challenges did only play a minior role towards the overall amount of credits obtained mainly due to relatively small payouts and that other factors (time played, slot machine and commendations) played a much larger role.
I straight up thought I was reading a new thread. Maybe put this in one? Because I forgot how awesome that system was, but I definitely remember grinding even firefight and having a blast.
Lol I’m retired at 32 and am currently worth 14.6 million dollars. Yea ur right maybe one day I’ll be intelligent. Till then I guess I’ll just have to keep posting here, telling ppl how you paid 10$ for 6 months of rewards (extremely worth the $)… how they moved up in the right direction from 50 exp a game (300 for 6) to 1000 for 6.
