It’s a band-aid fix. The problem with the progression system is that it’s busted from the inside out, top to bottom. They’ll have to basically make something completely “new” (just use Reach’s system) to make it better. As for the current system, I’ll take it only because I don’t have much time to play each day, so at least I can run a handful of matches and rank up.
They should reward performance/winning, fix challenges, and add a jackpot system to de-incentivize quitting, but that’s gonna take some time and I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see most of that until New Years.
That’s a pretty narrow hot take. Is this some zoomer mobile-gamer logic?
Why do you think we need XP to play the game if the gameplay is solid?
They literally said other changes would take time, a lot of the ideas each of us have could be a disaster in actual usage… Hence why you don’t just revamp the whole thing 2 weeks into a soft launch
Because I spent $10 on the thing that needs xp to progress through it. I would like a reasonable way to move up it. I’m glad I don’t need to spend 3 hours per 1 level now. At least for about the first hour of playing.
I don’t think this should be the final XP system, but as it stands it is an improvement over the 50 XP update (which was worse than the original version actually.)
I look forward to trying the new system tomorrow to make an informed opinion. So far on paper is seems like an improvement - and I look forward to future enhancements.
Good response time by 343i after the holiday break as well.
This change made it possible to progress about 10 levels a week with only casual play (read: doing 6 matches and your weeklies), making you complete the BP in less then half a season.
If they fire the progress up even more we’ll all end up complaining we don’t have enough content within 2 weeks.
I just said this in another thread that someone was suggesting we get 200xp per match
I imagine after adjustments and research seasons will be 3 or 4 months, but this first season has had just one event and people are acting like they need to get to the end within a month.
They could make it 300 levels and have a bunch performance stats and razzle dazzle over the same amount of time maybe
No thanks. I want my ODST stuff before the end of the year. I bought the BP with items to unlock in mind. When they’re unlocked I will be happy. If I can speed through the pass, so what?
This is a band aid to a large wound; it isn’t meant to be a real solution.
Obviously it isn’t ideal, but better than the current one we have (which essentially gave you no real reason to play outside of fun once all the weekly challenges were complete) and its moreso better for people that can only play 1-2 hours a day.
It’s better than just 50, but xp needs to be performance based.
Hopefully it will be fixed for real soon. If I understood correctly this is just the temporary solution they implemented their first day back at work, while they work on a better system.
Exactly. They committed to a larger improvement on the post, and this solution gives me reason to keep playing every day rather than the first 2 days of the week.
I think after your idea is implemented, too many players will hang up using macro commands to gain experience. I think if you can convert the medals in the game into experience, players will be more motivated to play
closer to a boomer than a zoomer, been playing halo since it’s original launch. so, no. Who said the gameplay is solid? some people have, and it’s closer to good than bad. But solid it is not. Halo 5 was superior in every way that I have seen so far and and yet people are too engrossed in hating that game to give them their due on the multiplayer. Yes, the campaign was bad. The multiplayer was virtually bug free, the servers were excellent, and the matchmaking was firm but fair. halo infinite has achieved, at best, about 80% of what halo 5 did on the the multiplayer side. I’m not the one who said we needed xp to play this game. 343 did and proceeded to give almost none of it by giving us the worst progression system, possibly ever.
Reason being a system like that takes longer to build than just dialing up per match XP. This current fix is just a band-aid till more changes can be done later.
I would like to unlock my items in this lifetime, and without further use of my credit card, aside from the 30 bucks that was given. That was a good faith payment and I’m getting a real poor return on my investment.
Poorly clearly. Nobody is denying that. But if you can’t see that they’re starting make moves to resolve it, then I don’t really know what more to tell you.
they already fluffed this battle pass pretty hard to get 100 levels with xp boosts and challenge swaps, and it clearly wasn’t because their wasn’t content available. They just determined that you’d need all the help you could get to get through the battle pass I guess. I’m pretty curious to see their take on 300 levels.
