New Xbox Username System?

So I know this is something that has been teased for a bit now and I just saw this article that describes it a bit more, just curious about others opinions and what they think it means cause I honestly can’t tell if its even worth changing my GT.

So I don;t fully get it. So if I change my name to just “KnavishPlum” it would show up in games on PC as KnavishPlum #169 (just using my number for example). But on Xbox and mobile since the “#” is removed it would just be KnavishPlum169 again? Obviously since it isn’t out yet I could just be reading this wrong or things could change.

Also I kinda wonder if I could use this name since its from Xbox’s random name generator when you first make your account. I never changed it and I wouldn’t want to lose it since I adopted “KnavishPlum” (no numbers) for like everything.

Well its supposed to be like how Discord works. But I am wondering if number still show up in the games. If they do, it kinda defeats the purpose of changing ones name to remove the numbers at the end.

i could get along with this since i had to reverse my name because i made an account forever ago to play halo at a buddy’s house and i can’t even begin to think of the email or any information about it

Soooooooo glad my Gamertag wasn’t taken when I got it. Still surprised it was available 11 years after Halo’s release.

Ya… As of now it is impossible to get mine since it reserved. I assume its because its from the name generation system for LIVE. I have tried multiple times with no success. But I hope to one day be the one and true “KnavishPlum” :stuck_out_tongue:

Is that official ? I mean I heard and looking for that but I didn’t find an official announcement or like that, I want change my Gamertag but I don’t want have problems haha.

They announced it over the summer so it is official.

That is true though it will be a little nit confusing.

This article is the one I read at the time changes were made. It is 5 months old so that could be why you did not see it on the official site.

Are we going to have to change our gamertags? I’m so confused by this. I’ve been dryrain23 for a long time and I have zero plan to ever change it.

No, you can keep your original gamertag if you want. Check out this article.

I don’t know if you mean like in general or from their name generator, but yes if the second one. I want to be the “true” KnavishPlum dang it.

Well…I’m using the new gamertag system, being only “Vaporeon97”, I’m just waiting for 343 to give support MCC and the rest of the games for the new system :confused:

Its sad that thats even a thing which reminds me of OSRS 3 letter name black market where they sell super old accounts with low letter names at high prices its so lame
