Everyone loves to See new shiny weapons to video games but when it comes to halo people go crazy over it.What would you love to see?
Important before we go too far with speculation that we take into account QDH’s comments in the last Ask343 about sandbox and roles. I think it’s pretty clear (at least at launch) that overlapping roles are mostly a thing of the past and that each weapon will have its own niches - especially red/blue plasma ones.
Feel like we’ve already seen quite a few of the new ones:
-
Ravager - Mangler - Pulse Carbine - Bulldog - Sidekick - CommandoWe also know a lot of the older weapons are returning and appear to have similar roles to their established ones.
-
Hydra - Assault Rifle - Battle Rifle - SPNKR - Sniper Rifle - Plasma Pistol - NeedlerWe’ve heard of a few others but not seen them yet:
-
Shock Rifle (my guess will be some kind of Brute semi-auto?). Possibly a successor to Brute Shot/Concussion Rifle? - Stalker Rifle (my guess is successor to Beam or Focus Rifle?)One thing I would like to see in the game would be some kind of specialist suppression weapon - maybe with the CE Plasma rifle’s style movement restriction. A role weapon to make people keep their heads down. Should have a good range, decent accuracy, but lower lethality. For MP it would require players to work together

Wasn’t there a weapon from toys called “disruptor” which was also the second weapon that chief had holstered in sniper rifle screenshot?

Yeah I didn’t include it because I’ve not seen enough concrete about it. Stalker Rifle we have from a ‘Jackal Sniper’ toy and it looks like Beam/Focus rifle. The Shock Rifle is described in Shadows of Reach

Yeah, the helmet of the toy jackal looks hella cool!
a banished turret, fires banished plasma or super spikes or something
Any weapon that would set things on fire. Fire has been absent from Halo for far too long. I don’t care what form it takes when it returns, as long as it returns.

I expect we’ll be getting a fire vehicle at least. In my opinion that actually seems cooler. Anyway, here’s my evidence for that:
“Although, we are working on a new vehicle that is looking pretty hot. This new vehicle will sit nicely between the Warthog and the Scorpion in terms of power level so it should ignite some new discussions on what vehicle to take to a mission. We just got our initial concept which really lit a fire under the team to get it into flighting, so stay tuned!”
That quote was from the January Inside Infinite article.

A flame vehicle sounds great. I honestly hope to see a lot of innovation with new vehicles types, as Halo has been kind of stagnating since Reach. Though I liked the wasp in Halo 5, I am really hoping for a vehicle that will shake things up a lot. Or at least not be pushed to the background by every other vehicle.

Flamethrower warthog.

As much as i love arson, a flamethrower hog wouldn’t work. You would be driving into your own flames. However, it might work if it was more like a gauss hog, where it fires a fire grenade or something at a slower rate of fire.
also. I want my flamethrower

I certainly hope that they take some more stuff just from classic halo. I think that the CE Plasma Rifle would be a great idea to add in there. It would be cool to see a rare Brute plasma rifle, but I’m sure that since it’s the banished we’re fighting, there are going to be more than enough Brute weapons as is. Also they scavenged some human weapons as far as I know? I think the Bulldog may also be used by Brutes. I don’t really know.
I also hope that the Halo 2 Beam Rifle comes back too.

Flamehog. Though it would need more armor in order to counteract the fact that it is only effective at closer ranges.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure we will see all those in due course. But with Infinite having such a long lifespan, they don’t need to include everything at launch. They can take their time to balance and tune everything so it has a place in the sandbox.
The Bulldog is definitely an UNSC weapon - as is the Commando

A flamethrower would be an amazing touch to the game!!!
I would love to see a launcher style power weapon fulfil a long range mortar/ artillery role. I think it is a role that has been missing from Halo, and one that would fit quite well. Some weapons have teased with the idea (like the CE fuel rod cannon), but not fully committed, they always seem to overlap with the rocket launcher in their close to mid (but not too close!) range of effectiveness, instead of having a distinct role. A great example of how such a weapon could work is the Tribes Ascends Fusion Mortar. A heavily arcing explosive projectile that has a significant delay before the projectile is armed. Meaning at close range it will bounce like a grenade before a delayed explosion but at long range it will instantly detonate upon impact. With a sizable blast radius, making it a power weapon. The Reach Grenade Launcher ticks some of the boxes, but not really, Not having the reliability at range. It could either be a single shot high damage weapon or a multi shot rain death weapon with less damage per shot.
I think it would be an Ideal counter to an imbedded sniper position and would be a great addition to the combat puzzle. Additionally I believe it would make a nice alternative long range weapon to the typical long range precision weapons.
Instead of a flamethrower warthog I think a flamethrower brute chopper would be wayyy cooler. Instead of those 2 cannons at the front its two flamethrowers. Give it to me!!

Very detailed:joy:
I wanna see more physics manipulator-y weapons. The gravity hammer kinda does that already (especially in 3), but personally what I really want to see is something more akin to HL2’s gravity gun, or mmayybe GMod’s physgun. I wanna grab a crate and throw it at someone. I wanna grab someone’s mongoose (WHILE THEY’RE ON IT!) and just fling it into the horizon, never to be seen again. Maybe build a makeshift barricade out of random physics objects, maybe chuck a fusion coil into an entire room of people at mach 5 speeds, who knows?
