Can anyone bring to the table, any new thoughts and concepts to previous weapons and possibly a new, more modern feel and look to the weapon set as well?
My idea for the classic Assault Rifle would be to leave the Reach’s one alone because I love so much, but make the outer metal casing stainless steel with a slight hue to it. Also the hologram was alright in Reach, simply because they wanted it to feel like the original. If 343i could make it very much like a holographic panel that would really fascinating.
The Needler in my mind is the only really creative weapon, the look is very alien, feels like a rifle when shooting, but combines on the target when shield is gone to create an explosion.
343i should bring back the concept of the BR (Battle Rifle) with customized 3 shot or single shot for more range. In Team Swat should have a locked single shot mode only. Furthermore, the BR should also have the same treatment as its counterpart the Assault Rifle.
The human weapons, if there are any (UNSC supply depots on a Forerunner world?) would be from Halo 3’s style not Reach. No Army issued assault rifle here.
Personally I’d like it that way as I thought Reach’s AR was butt ugly compared to the smooth and streamlined MA5C.
I doubt there’d be Covenant weaponry, but you never know. Those little -Yoinks!- seem to be everywhere.
The idea of Forerunner weapons is interesting to me, to see the stuff the Covies based all their tech off of would be neat.

Maybe some small groups that still want the Covenant to be alive, but the main thing is dead. That does not stop the former Covenant species from being there though, maybe not as enemies either, it would be awesome to fight along side grunts and elites.

but think about a more customized assault rifle without the beaten up black look, personally, Halo 3’s assault rifle looked like a small plastic fake gun.
If I can recall, the chief put on an attachment to the pistol,so this can theoretically be the same thing to any weapon, not just UNSC weapons to make it balanced.
Well i like your enthusiasm, but the M16 is not sleek, if you have an artistic eye, you can see its unbalanced with one side more dominant than the other, it looks like a scalene triangle.
Halo is all about the weight, balance and feel of the gun, it also must have some originality than any modern day weapon we have today.
I’m sure, currently there’s nothing resembling the Reach’s Assault rifle.
Also, I have no idea what 343i will do, so go figure
I could take a stab at it designing a new concept for the assault rifle. I’m pretty good so I’ll have a go at it and send it the community creations and link it here, I was originally desiging the new Halo 4 shield set for Easy, Normal, and Legendary difficulties. The’ll both be in fully detailed realistic as soon as I’m satisfied they look cool enough IMO
When i think of a really creative weapon one of two weapons come to mind, the original Sentinel beam, and the Needler.
I was thinking of giving a crack at the original Sentinel beam, when shot would send out approximately 8 small beams that are very similar to the range of a shotgun, but when held long enough would “spindle” to a highly potent beam with an explosive effect before overheating.
Also the Needler type weapon, there could be a secondary effect, that could physically grind the needles into a fine dust, and when spread on a floor of the desert, jungle, or anywhere else would slow the enemies down while draining the shields like fire does. With the dust slowly growing could immobilize them for a few seconds.
Going back to the sentinel gun, you could have a secondary function to detach a smaller “pistol” size gun that shoots a single high powered energy at a time
