New Weapon Ideas

(Compilation of my and others’ weapon ideas.)

Guns:

  1. Promethean Grenade Launcher-The Promethean grenade launcher will obviously look Promethean so it will be dark (maybe black) with bright glowing orangy-red designs. It could look like this (but it will be black and orangy-red). It will be pretty powerful (maybe a direct hit could take away 80% of health) and the glowing orangy-red projectile will move some-what fast (a little faster than the concussion rifle). It will have a pretty high range and it will have a short blast radius (if a player is in the blast radius but is not hit then it should take away about 40-60% of their health). I think that the clip size should be about 3-5 projectiles (it will basically be a more powerful version of the Concussion Rifle).
  2. Mortar-It would function like the Mortar in the Gears of War franchise. It would be a heavy weapon (like the missile pod) that would destroy all but shielded vehicles in a single shot (including the Scorpion and Wraith). It would however be difficult to land shots due to the aiming mechanism and would leave the user immobile and vulnerable during it’s operation. Of course it would only be available on outdoor maps.
  3. Harpoon/Spear Gun-How 'bout a Harpoon-type of weapon that generates a large spike (a la Spiker) which impales enemies and hooks them to the wall or just runs right through them. It would be a Brute counterpart of the Forerunner Binary Rifle and is a one-hit kill, after it’s been fired a new spike generates but this takes times, like the Incineration Cannon’s recharge.
  4. Heavy Sentinel Beam-This weapon would make the player go into 3rd person like they he/she would if they were holding a turret. It fires a continuous beam of energy but it overheats after about 8 seconds. It will take about 2-4 seconds to kill a player. 1 second of holding down the trigger will take away 2-3% of ammo. The color of the beam could be red, blue, or yellow…maybe white?
  5. Needle Shotgun-This weapon would be the covenant equivalent of the shotgun and the scattershot. It would have low damage and a slow fire-rate but a clip of 8 projectiles. When you tap the trigger, it will shoot 2 needles. It will take 6 needles to kill a player but it has a unique trait, when an enemy player is shot, they are “tagged” with a pink mist that follows them for 6 seconds. This will allow enemies to follow their trail. (I know, I know, it’s a stupid idea…)

Melee Weapons:

  1. Shock Stick- This is a purple-colored electrical baton that does low damage at high speeds. The minimum strike time is 1 second, it takes 3 strike to destroy a player’s shields and 2 strike to deplete a player’s health. When a player uses the shock stick, their speed is slightly increased, about the same speed as a player using the ES/PB.
  2. Fist of Rukt- The Fist of Rukt has a larger blast radius than the gravity hammer, it can emit an electromagnetic blast than can destroy players’ shields, and it can slowly make a player’s shield(s) regenerate. It will have two blast radius’s, a small one for an insta-kill damage, and a larger one for the electromagnetic blast-destroying players’ shields. Since it seems a little over-powered, it should have low ammo.
  3. Energy Stave/Honor Guard Spike-I’m not really sure how this should work in combat because it’s never been shown in combat before.
  4. A Forerunner melee weapon, similar in design to the one featured in Halo: Legends. Maybe it could be a duel purpose weapon? Like the bolt shot acted as a weak pistol and a powerful shotgun if charge, this weapon could also act as a weak analogue to the pistol but charging it would allow the player to lunge at an enemy and fatally stab them. Of course, this weapon would be a pick-up and not be present at spawn.

Grenades:

  1. Bubble Shield Grenade-When this grenade is thrown, it will stick to a surface and then release a large bubble shield. The bubble shield has about 2x more health than a Spartan. It will disappear after about 10-15 seconds.
  2. Needle Grenade-This grenade will stick to any surface and then it will explode after a second. When it explodes, it releases several needles that injury players. It will have a somewhat large radius but low-medium damage. This is basically Halo 3’s Spike Grenade.
  3. EMP Grenade-This grenade will explode about 2-5 seconds after it is thrown. When it explodes, it will completely shut down the shields of enemy players and it will shut down vehicles for about 3-5 seconds. It won’t have any affect against players without shields and it will have a somewhat large blast radius. This can stick to players, vehicles, and other objects.
  4. Lava-like Grenade-This grenade (which is Promethean-based) will explode when it hits a surface. When it explodes, it will release some sort of Promethean lava or acid which will turn an enemy into ashes (like when someone is killed by a Binary Rifle and an Incineration Cannon). It will have a low radius but it will have very high damage.
  5. Black Hole Grenade-This grenade will explode when it hits a surface. When it explodes, it will suck all objects (vehicles, weapons, & players, etc.) into a black hole for about 3-5 seconds and then it will throw/launch the objects outward. (Just like the Black Hole Grenade in Thor 2: The Dark World but this would have an outward blast too.)
  6. Gravity Lift Grenade-When this grenade hits any surface, it will shoot out several gravity lifts which will be good for taking care of an enemy ground vehicle or player. The radius of the combined propulsion of the grav lifts will be pretty large. It will launch vehicles and players very high into the air so that when they land, the object will be damaged or the player may be killed. There will be a center grav lift and it will launch a player higher than the outside lifts.
  7. Regenerator Grenade-This grenade will explode upon impact. When it hits any surface, it will keep regenerating all ally players’ shields who are within the radius. The radius will be somewhat large and it will regenerate shields for about 6-12 seconds until it destroys itself.
  8. Smoke Grenade-This grenade will explode a couple of seconds after it hits a surface. When the grenade explodes, it will release a ton of smoke which will provide cover for you and your teammates. The smoke will last for about 15-30 seconds until it starts to disappear. The smoke radius will be very large, about the size of the scorpion tank (probably a little larger than the tank).
  9. Incendiary Grenade (Return from Halo 3)-This grenade detonated on impact. It would explode with fire and if it hits a player, they will catch on fire and dies within 2 seconds. It had a short radius and high damage.
  10. Tracker Grenade-When the grenade it throw, it will follow an enemy player if the grenade is thrown close to the enemy. If the grenade manages to stick to an enemy player, they will be highlighted on your screen and you will be able to see them through walls, etc. The tracker will work for about 25-40 seconds. If the grenade does not reach the target them it will explode into nothingness, causing no damage.
  11. Mine Grenade-About 2-4 seconds after the box-shaped grenade is thrown, the grenade will shoot out a handful of little mines all over the area surrounding it (the box). The mines will do about 30% of a player’s max health. The radius of the minefield will be about the diameter of a warthog.

That all sounds really good :+1:

I like the idea of a Needle Shotgun and I think mechanics-wise, the Shredder in The Silent Cartographer Evolved nailed it(Has 8 or so shots per magazine and each shot shoots out 3 needles in a wide arc that forces you to be up close for a good hit). With that in mind I would pair that mechanic with a similar design as the one posted on reddit.

Also I would be happy with the Pulse Grenade if it slowly pulled people toward it much like your Black Hole Grenade idea but it would incinerate everything caught with the final blast just as before.

I don’t know if anything else would suite Halo that well but that is just an opinion.

A lot of people really hate multiple weapons that fulfill the same role but I think if we had them in Forge and not Matchmaking then everybody wins!

Most of those are pretty cool, it’s just that a smoke grenade probably won’t be any good against super-soldiers with advanced vision and optical gear.

I initially hated the concept but that weapon really sold me on it. I especially like the way it looks.
Only problem is that it would really be to similar to the Scattershot.

Seriously though, can they just hire CMT to make Halo 5 already? I’ve always been a huge fan of everything they put out.

Okay, right off the bat, the first problem is the more grenades there are, the more a pain in the -Yoink- it becomes to swap between them.

EMP Grenade…well speak of the devil, I prefer how these were executed in TSC Evolved as well.
Needle Grenade…I’d rather see the spike grenade…even then I think I can pass.
Lava Grenade…essentially the same as the incendiary grenade. Pointless.
Black Hole Grenade…I kind of like the concept, but I feel it would be too weak unless it crushed players in the middle.
Smoke Grenade…I’m very divided on that one. Not sure it would be balanced, or if it even makes sense in a sci-fi environment.

Bubble/Lift/Regenerator/Tracker/Mine Grenades…I feel there’s better ways to implement these things, like making them their own weapon or applying their effects to new weapons.

I believe we should only have four grenade types at the most, and Frag/Plasma are already taken. If I had to pick any two of those five grenades, I’d go with EMP and Black Hole.

Promethean Grenade Launcher…Nah. Doesn’t bring anything to the table.

Mortar…I’d like to see that functionality applied to the Fuel Rod instead (because it’s kind of useless/redundant at the moment and that’s how it worked in Halo Ce), but I’m perfectly fine with a new Mortar-type weapon.

Spear Rifle…might be a bit redundant with the Railgun.

Heavy Sentinel Beam…actually a powerful laser that you have to lug around does sound kind of interesting. I’d imagine it being pretty overpowered, but it could work for certain maps and gametypes I suppose.

Needle Shotgun…again, Scattershot is already present.

I would love to have more melee weapons in general.
