new weapon- guided missile

so there is this weapon i want in halo 4. its kind of like the rocket launcher but only right when you fire you can actually guide the missile where you want. REMEMBER when you fire it you cannot see your radar or anything except the missile so you can die easily

you have 15 seconds to guide the missle to your destination. if you hit and object the misile blows up. if you dont hit anything and the 15 seconds are up the missle blows up regardless if you hit something or not.

and heres another thing i thought of that would go well. theres 2 firing options-

  1. you just hit an object with the default settings (does the most damage)

  2. you press “a” and the missile separates into a lot of tinier missiles. they do weaker damage but have a bigger radius of damage. once you press the “a” button then you cannot steer the missiles anymore.

and one less thing. if you press the “y” button then your missile self destructs

thoughts

Sounds like Chewie’s missile launcher from SWBFII…LOVE IT (:

In addition to the cluster bomb thing, add a boost button–harder to steer but does more damage.

That would work on a slower-paced game like Battlefield or Call of Duty, but Halo is quite fast paced and there would be little use to an anti-tank guided missile launcher for anything but what its designed for. Considering tanks can be easily taken out quickly and directly with pre-existing heavy weaponry, there’s no real place for an ATGM.

Not to mention you’d likely be as dead as quickly as you shot off that missile with a nice smoke trail, as well as your pretty coma-tastic body just chilling there guiding it.

halo is waaay slow paced compared to cod and battlefield. and thats what you risk, you might die but it is an instant kill</mark>

So’s it’s basically like the remote rocket launcher you can unlock in Star Wars Battlefront II besides the cluster option. Anyway I like this. This could actually work. Maybe not for matchmaking. But for
-Campaign.
-Firefight.
-Forge.
-Customgames.
it would work.

I was about to flame you but this sounds like a really cool idea! It sounds balanced but it would need to have quite bad steering and go fast so it takes skill and noobs can’t just use it perfectly first time. Also it needs to have a short cooldown or reload after each shot.

> you might die but it is an instant kill

Except that unless you’ve already put that missile in a good path towards a stationary or close proximity enemy, its not going to do anything but waste a significant amount of playing time and waste the missile for other, more skilled players, to use.

If anything, the only thing that they could add back that would be worth using is the guidance feature from the M41 SSR MAV/AW rocket launcher seen in Halo 2. Wouldn’t have the punch that a dedicated ATGM would have sure, but two rockets is usually all it takes if use correctly.

yeah of course. I was thinking about a 2 second cool down.

So like a Missile you actually fly around and control? That’d be pretty cool. It should fly a lot slower than the other rockets/missiles though, so you can shoot it out of the air easier.

I agree. Campaign, firefight, and customs are more controlled.

yes or it could fly really fast and be hard to steer?

Well, depends what other weapons are in the game. If there’s another Rocket Launcher in the game then you’d want them to be as different as you can.

I think instead that you don’t need to add the cluster bombs to it thats a tad overkill.

I gotta admit, this is a pretty nice idea. Of course, it shouldn’t have too much ammo though, maybe one extra shot. Though, in the end, if done right it could really be fun to have!

while this is a decent enough IDEA i would also like to state that a weapon such as this is too complicated to be fun in a halo like setting. first off 15 seconds is a LONG time if any thing it should be able to be directed or guided for at most 5 seconds. after that though it shouldnt just explode in air but perhaps continue on in that direction until it meets a target. also it doesnt need multiple ways to shoot. it should just be point shoot control for a few seconds than hit. also the little missile thing is cool but it should be its own weapon not a variant of this weapon its just to contrived if you ask me

Ok, GC, this is the FIRST idea to come out of your brain that I’ll agree with.
But keep in mind that it doesn’t mean all of your ideas are good.

I definetly don’t like it because you can destroy anything from anywhere in the map instead of actually having to AIM the rocket you just shoot the rocket and guide it to your easy kill

I like getting 7 kill streaks in CoD Blac… Oh wait, this a is a Halo forum?

Anyway…

Not in Matchmaking.

Otherwise I don’t care, seems pointless.

We need a predator drone!
