It would be nice for the mp to get new assassinations like in H5. More weapon based would be great, like the one with the plasma granade.
It would work fine with promethean weapons. Like:
You activate the animation, your target turns around and tries to punch you, you evade behind his back and grab a scattergun that flyes out of nowhere in your hands. A clean shot to the face. Then the target and the scattergun both dissolve in the known effect.
In my imagination it looks fine

Would love to see one with Taurtaurus’s Gavel. Sick weapon. Maybe hit a spartan’s head like a golf ball idk. Kinda silly but just an idea.
I remember these sort of discussions from Halo: Reach times, anyway its pretty much still the same as in different weapons could have different assassinations as long as the knife is not forgotten, perhaps you could have set preference for knife or weapon assassination where shooting assassination uses some ammo and in campaign possibly alerts everyone (duh) which could be maybe named “execution” option.
The next option could be maybe “brutalist” which doesnt use ammo but uses the currently used weapon as melee weapon which depending on weapon or animation could have a chance of alerting enemies.
And then the basic knife option which would be the stealthy option. Obviously which type would be selected wouldnt matter as much in multiplayer for the exception of the “executioner” with its ammo usage.
So maybe brute weapons at least could be obviously used as melee weapons, the hammer for instance could be used for back crack, head smash, throat slit with the little blade part on turning enemy… I guess you get the picture. Also brute shot could use its blade part to impale enemy, spiker could be used like axe or piercing weapon and so on.
The needler could be used as melee weapon with its crystal spikes, much like one of its melee animations in Halo: Combat Evolved.
Also, the kukri, if it returns, should be usable. Katana too in similar case. For ones who dont know, the kukri is the blade from the Emiles shoulder part in Halo: Reach. And Katana is obviously the Halo 3 thing. Just mentioned Emile because some might not recognize the type of blade or rather its name, kukri.
Though im not going to list every weapon here. I guess few examples are fine.
Though I have doubts about such things as hammer crushing animations given the recent anti-blood direction Halo has taken lately. But I hope it would go back to the older type of blood in moderation.

Would love to see a Needler animation. Holding it up and then kneeing the spartan’s head into the needles.
I always wanted to see an assassination animation with the Sniper Rifle. Like knocking a player on the floor with the SR then shooting them in the back of the head or something.

Maybe 2 or 3 different animations for the weapons I listed

i would go with a h5 system. you have a lot of assassinations and 1 personal favorite which you can equip.
MAybe crank it up to 3 options and put more weapons in it, maybe even one for every weapon. You would only use those who like the most anyway
It would be super cool if they take inspiration from Titanfall 2. Some of the assassinations that you could score in that game were brutal and fit right into the gameplay. I’m specifically remebering one where the titans shoot at each other and one throws the other one down and blasts it with it’s laser face (shoutout to RvB)

Maybe just bring that to the next level with the assassinations, as an option obviously given assassinations should still be optinable as in you could be able to turn them off, anyway, what i mean by that is put options to different types of assassinations and not just the basic backstab one. What i mean by that are such things as airsassination, running assassination, side-back assassination etc etc…
As in those too could have different changeable options.
Though as to why you quoted that comment exactly im not sure of, since it was about whether person before was writing about energy sword or other type of blade.
Weapon specific assassinations sounds cool, but I’d like it if you could only use the assassination for the weapon you’re currently using. No pulling a sniper out of your back pocket lol
Not related to weapon assassinations but I think it’d be cool if you could set assassinations random so you can use all your unlocked assassinations without having to equip only one at a time.
Also would like more than one air/wall assassinations.
As Killer Orca would say it, assassinations with the Energy Bayonet would be sick (assuming they’re coming back).
I dislike the Assassination animations. I prefer the classic Assassinations in which your enemy dies instantly upon a melee to their exposed back. We should be rewarded with a kill when successfully sneaking up on an enemy like that, not punished with a slow gimmicky animation that exposes you to enemy fire. I switched mine off for the Halo 5 campaign.
It reminds me of the incredibly annoying VATS system from Fallout. I don’t understand how people actually enjoy that feature. It completely takes me out of the moment. It’s a large part of the reason I can’t get into that series despite owning both 3 and 4. Just give me fun gunplay. I don’t want to have to watch my character shoot the enemy from a third-person perspective. I want to do it myself, and yet clearly the feature is intended to be an important aspect of the game. …Not that Fallout’s gunplay is exactly top notch anyway, but I digress.

Honestly I think thats a good thing. Spartans use whatever’s on hand after all. Fists, weapons, grenades…possibly even another enemy.

I dont doubt that they will, lets be real here. Why would they take it away? I haven’t heard many complaints with the weapons mod system, except perhaps for there being a lot of repetative or useless ones.

Likely an unpopular opinion, but I think Halo 5 has too many assassinations as it is. None of them are vary memorable on account of how many are constantly happening. Reach had too few, admittedly, and repeating animations became a bit tiresome. It may be that Halo 4 struck the appropriate balance in this regard, giving enough variety that you didn’t tend to see repeats very often but you recognized which animations were happening after playing for a while and could remember the cooler ones.
I want different assassination options for the angle you assassinate. If I get someone straight in the center of the back I want to pull them onto the ground and punch them. But from the side I want something with an agile knife movement. Just me tho. More than just selecting 1 assassination and going with it for 1000 times.
