New Waypoint Layout - Issues?

Hey everyone, as you can see Waypoint has gotten a nice makeover! Visually, I love it, but Im curious what are your issues with it? Below I will include a comprehensive list of whats missing, what should be updated, etc. If you would like to have something added to the list, please feel free to comment below and I will add it as soon as I can. Let me please iterate that the purpose of this thread is in no way trying to bash the Waypoint team, just point out the flaws so one day they can be corrected! Also feel free to comment below with what you like, dislike, and would like to see in the future! So without further adieu, the list!

Issue List:
-Can’t see post count
-Can’t see who thanked
-Can’t see last person who posted in a thread
-Can’t see how many thanks one has acquired
-Search Bar has not returned
-E-mail notifications still don’t work.
-Master of Unicorns still exists.
-Using Waypoint via Mobile is difficult in regards to quoting and thanking
-A line separating signatures from posts.
-Clicking the [BB/} code button doesn’t have a drop box, just the text options.
-When posting too soon, the notification saying, “You have X amount of time before you can post again” if really high up and not in the middle of the screen like it has been in the past

Things I’ve Noticed (Not necessarily classified as an Issue)
-You can now create a poll after you posted a thread. I just clicked reply and noticed in the top right hand of the screen the button, “create poll.” Nice addition.

This has been taken from another thread, it is nice to see the Waypoint team n these issues. This is why I like making a list of what the members want to see so the team knows what we want as well. You guys are doing great, the forums have never been so fast! (As far as I know in the 7 months I’ve been here :P)

This thread is not meant to flame the new look, just point out what it lacks so we can figure out how Waypoint can be improved in the future. Other than that, Im really loving the sleek new look!

As far as I can see, we’ve simply got the new UI, we’ve had no bugfixes.

I’m hoping the bugfixes come within a few hours, otherwise the forums are still lacking important features.

EDIT: To add onto your issues:

  • E-mail notifications still don’t work.
  • Master of Unicorns still exists.

To be honest I only miss the Thank feature. Everything else is kind of pointless.

I’ve been doing a lot of catch up playing past Halo games and Halo 3 stats don’t appear in the new Waypoint layout. Is that an oversight?

Viewing Waypoint from a mobile device is complicated… The only thing making it complicated is getting the quote, thank, etc to pop up.

Earlier this year there was a transition of all stats from Bungie to 343i. 343i chose not to continue statistics and file sharing support for Halo 2, Halo3, and Halo 3: ODST. Their reasoning was they preoccupied with building these systems for Halo 4.

A working search bar would be pretty nice again, especially if people learned to use it.

I personally hate it. The old layout was fine.

Yeah the forums look nice and all, but I can’t see who posted last and how long ago it was. I also liked seeing a post count underneath everyone’s username.

My main issue is this:
As far as I know, there is no easy and quick way to see my most recent posts. The only way I know is going

My Profile > View Profile > Last 10 Posts

… but in my opinion that’s one click too many. It took me a lot of detective work to find it for the first time, and it’s just a hassle to get to. If anyone has a quicker way that I’m missing, please share it with me…

Also, I noticed there is no link the forums in the area at the bottom of the page. Even at the top of the page, the Forums link is hard to find. Bungie.net has good forums, and that’s one thing I want to see on this site, and Waypoint could benefit by making their forums more visible.

By the way, I said “Waypoint could benefit…” Is that wrong? That’s the name of the site, I think? Is 343 in charge of this site? On bungie.net, it was clear who was in charge of the site and that the forums were in Bungie’s hands. But I can’t tell if “Halo Waypoint” and “343” are the same thing, or two different companies. Or is Halo Waypoint simply the name of the site? Is 343 in charge of the site and/or forums?? I know 343 made Halo, but is that it? Is this site just a community forums site? 343’s name is hard to find on this site.

I tried going on my friends list and I’m getting a 403 error.

You can check out the friends list on the home page, that’s a positive at least.

Really good point and I agree. My solution for now is just make your own space by either clicking enter in your signature or doing what moa did and made his own line.

Unfortunately that takes away from our limited characters :confused:

Glad to hear Waypoint Web is aware of all this and working on it.

For some reason whenever i put my mouse on a tab at the top like community. I’ll try to move to forums and the options just go away as soon as i move the mouse to the forum icon. Unless im epically failing at something.

hmm thats strange… I have not had that issue yet. Anyone else experiencing this?

I like the speed of the new forum.
