New Warzone Variant

I was just thinking of a new, potentially fun, variant of warzone assault.

The game will start out with both teams on opposite ends of the garage, and it would be similar to a king of the hill type of game as both teams fight for the garage. The time limit will be 6 minutes, just like assault, however because you don’t add time all the games will be done in 6 minutes. Scoring will go by whichever team controls the garage and the winner will be whichever team scores the most in the 6 minutes.

So this is how scoring will work. Instead of having to capture the garage to score, it will be similar to king of the hill as in your team gets a point every second the enemy team is not in the garage. I imagine it as a very fun game type, with potentially many draws. However, it would be great for having fun, and getting in the quick 6 minute games for those who want to grind for reqs or xp.

What are your thoughts? Would you like to play a variant like this?

EDIT: Another idea I have been thinking is a CTF variant. 12 v 12 with a neutral flag. To win, you have to grab the flag and run it into where the core is. I can see this can be crazy because for once you can use the reqs to get creative with vehicles, etc. Perhaps start the game at REQ 3 so everyone has BR’s and make 3-5 captures win.

good idea

6 minutes is too short for a war zone match. Assault can be 6, but the attackers usually get the first one and can lose at 12, or lose at the core at 18 mins.

I understand, but one of the intrigues of assault is the potential for short games. Maybe a compromise of 10-12 minutes would be better though.

10-12 sounds great

i think a good tweak would be that instead of scoring based on there being no enemies the scores should go to each team, proportional to how many players are in. This could be an every 10 or 20 second score or a second by second count so at each scoring moment each team gets a point for how many players are in the base. it would make it more similar to king of the hill than strongholds because the majority win as opposed to one player being able to hold down the fort.

To be honest i dont like the idea that much. I think it wont work that well, as my experience of normal warzone games tell me, that taking back the garage / spire / fortress from the enemy team is very hard, as they can position themselves better and just wait. I also fear that this mode might end in spawncamping by the better team.

But number 1 reason why i dislike it, is the fact that there is so much to improve and fix in normal warzone and assault, that these fixes should be priority number 1 for 343i and not some new stuff.

I like the idea of a CTF Warzone variant - or even better a mix of CTF/Warzone/Invasion!!!

If you’re worried about spawn camping being a NEW thing, you’ve never played Dispatch Warzone Assault.

sounds good

How about they just bring back Multi-Team with Crazy King, Oddball, & Slayer in it? Problem solved. It was one of the few fun gamemodes in Reach & it’s like they always throw away everything that was fun from title-to-title in all these FPS’s nowadays.

It would be way to small and chaotic to spawn everybody in the garage lol. But non the less good idea
