Hey guys. What do we think of spartan kills now being worth 2 points in warzone? I think the pros outweigh the cons. Here are my findings and observations:
-
Matches mostly go quicker now. This leads to being able to play more games over the same amount of time. Xp can be earned quicker now. The grind to top level will become slightly faster now. PRO
-
Matches are closer and more competitive now, therefore more exciting. Momentum shifts occur more frequently now. Blowouts and farming have greatly decreased from what I’m seeing. Since matches are usually always in reach now, there are less quitters and people playing but not really trying (not calling in REQS when the game is slipping). PRO

Since there is less time/kills now, it is harder to get large sprees (Unfrig) now. I was playing a great game where I ended up going 23-0 and had just called in a Nornfang and only got a kill or two before the game ended. I feel like it could have turned into my best spree ever, but it simply wasn’t possible as we just reached 1000 points. To wonder what could have been… CON

Games have more avenues of victory. Previously, if u only held one base for the majority of the game, chances were u were going to lose. Now it’s conceivable to hold one base, play a strong slaying game, get a legendary boss or two, and pull out a win. PRO
What do u guys think? Observations? What have you experienced with the kill score changing to two points now?
It’s definitely very interesting, though most of the typical Warzone struggles still remain; getting trapped in home base while everyone else is swarming the outside is one example. Still, at least you have some fighting chance to make a comeback if you have weapons that are decent enough.
A month into this new change (2 points per kill), I really don’t like it. The only pro IMO is shortening “farm” games. Otherwise, it’s all bad. Games now are even more decided by the first few big moments - who gets 2 bases off the start, (which make your spawns better and slaying easier), and who gets the first legendary boss. It used to be that you could lose mid-base to start the game, but get your REQs up and make a good team push to steal it back around the 12:00 mark, then trip cap or steal the mythic to win. OR you could hold one base the whole time, but get both legendaries and the mythic to win. Now the game is over before you can make those comebacks.
TL;DR - 2-points per kill ends the games too fast and they aren’t as exciting now. Though it’s not NEARLY as game-breaking as what 343 did to the H5 BR…
I like the two point system. Try playing WZ to cool off from ranked and it’s not fun facing a solid team going for their WZ Champ, while my team spins in circles. This just lets me lose way faster and try my luck next game. I don’t back out cause the Banhammer loves me.
I think it has benefited warzone. less blow out games. closer games and less farming.
I don’t understand why they had to double the points. They should have made it 1.2 times for starters and slowly move it upwards if it needs more tweaking but nop bam double points. We all know how they messed up balance with Forge’s Warthog in Halo Wars 2.
Oh and when I mean 1.2 times I mean first multiply all scores by 10 then make each kill from 10 points to 12 while bosses are 250, 1000 and 2000 points with the win at 10000.
