Now hear me out. I know that we already have black visors and all, but for most helmets it seems like a dull black or even a dark grey. With obsidian all the visors would be pitch black, and very shiny like obsidian is. What do you think? Or should this just be the new black?

I realize it’s in the Halo 4 category, that is what I wanted it to be in. I kind of figure it’s a little too late to ask for this in Reach :P.

I don’t know how the visor color system works, but we should just have the same color options for the visor that we have for armor.
We should also have the option for new shiny armor or used dull, scratched armor.
I disagree, there is a reason you cannot be a black spartan, after all. Visibility.
I like the idea OP, they should keep both the black and obsidian color options for your visor because I am all for more customization.

Exactly. It wouldn’t make sense canonically, not to much you can’t see through black.

Yeah…
It is a heavily polished, deep black. Shiny. Sexy. The works. About the same color as the black keys on a piano.

Nope - “piano black” refers to the extremely polished black finish of the piano itself - not the keys (they aren’t really that polished).
I wouldn’t want a visor like that because it would be a scratch and finger magnet!

Piano “Black” keys would be Black Ivory.
Either way, adding a bit of “shimmer” to it to make the Obsidian look is still Black IMO.
I just don’t think it would be distinctive enough since it’s already a reflective visor.

They need to add a dull black, like the “Last Man Standing” color from Halo Reach’s Infection mode. Not a true black, but darker than the Steel color, which, IMO, kinda sucks. That Steel has ruined many a color scheme for me.
