That does sound pretty cool. sadly, whoever made this show would never think of it because there knowledge of Halo seems to be limited to “Big green guy shoot aliens with blue E-girl!”. Incase it hasn’t registered yet, my hopes for the series aren’t all that high.

After watching it a few times, it definitely looks to have issues. During the fight scene with the 2 elites, there’s a Chevy Tahoe in the background. What year are we in again?
We can see someone using a modified AK47 at some point in the trailer. Again, what year are we in?
I’ll still watch it but it looks cheap and not well thought out so far.

If not for the iconic Spartan armor/Elites, you wouldn’t know it was Halo.
Its a bad time to be a long time Halo fan. First Infinite, now this cinematic abomination. Golden opportunity to mine the books/comics for material most haven’t seen or read just to waste time and money on a project that won’t even be cannon.
Microsoft and 343 are completely incompetent.

If you’re going into the show with that frame of mind, don’t even bother watching it.
Halo seems to have the Star Wars problem where the people who hate the franchise the most are it’s biggest fans.

I wouldn’t blame 343 or MS for this, I blame whoever’s writing the series.
From the get go, the whole “I touch thing and it changed me” is like wtf why do I care? Secondly, the Halo story is currently expanding with Infinite, so we literally do not need a substory shoved in. That’s what Halo5 did with the books and it ended badly, now they wanna do it with a TV Series? Cmon man.
They could have:
- Explore John’s history from the moment he was kidnapped, and we can see the entire bootcamp to augment story unfold.
- Contact Harvest? Hello? It’s basically begging to be made into a live action drama.
- Or ODSTs! People love the ODSTs in Halo even if they play sidekick to Chief
- Covenant PoV of the war. Covenant PoV of Halo trilogy would be interesting
The way I see it? They’re desperately trying to use actors, and it’s so in your face it’s annoying. Also see how “pristine” Blue team looked? Actual lmao.
Also check out the dialouge : “He’s lethal, upgradable, and controllable”
WTF HALSY WOULD NEVER SAY THIS. She would say something along the lines of “He’s humanity’s best hope” and “he’s the evolution of humanity”
Halsy is PROUD of her Spartans, she would never go “lol upgradable and controllable”

I think live-action is fine, and the CG was fine, but did they need to make it about finding Halo, put a human leader in the Covenant and try to change everyone’s personalities?
That’s the problem.
If you call it Halo, it should be Halo, not some generic sci-fi series.
If you want a generic sci-fi series, call it something else.
People have been waiting years to see how a Halo movie or series would turn out, and this being the result is disappointing.
There’s actually an animated adaptation of that, I think, but I could see them needing to adapt that again for live-action, since most people watching the series probably wouldn’t have seen the other adaptation or read the book.
Supposedly 343/Microsoft were very involved. If they weren’t, that might actually be worse lol
I agree 110% with everything you said. The characters all have the right names but its like Twilight Zone versions of the ones we know.
And they had great stories to mine from and just said “nah”. The Halo live action commercials look better than this show.
it was more cringe than all of the dialogue from H5 and H; Inf. put together. you could even say that the cringe was over 9000, jokes aside it was not good at any point that said I’ll give it a chance, maybe even get the blu-ray of season 1 (if there is one) as I don’t have P+.
also did anyone notice the two elites with swords didn’t have energy shields but it looked like chief did.
Those Elites moved like they were constantly falling over as well, and swung their arms like apes.
Meanwhile we have Johnson vs Arbiter clip in H2A for referrence. HMMMMMMM
they’ve also started to run it as a YT ad it played in the middle of another vid i was listening to

It definitely isn’t the bad writing or the complete disregard for the previous iterations.
This feels empty. Just like the Locke thing they did for Halo 5 which I bet nobody remembers anymore.
Anything 343 touches turns to yoink! Want it to be good but wont go in expecting much and will still probably be disappointed just like halo 5 and infinite

I thought it looked good but at the same time it looks kinda cheesy especially when the elite was swinging the energy swords, I don’t know but the scale is what seems a little bit off
