New TV messing me up!

Everyone,

I got a new TV recently. I switched from a 32 inch screen with no HDMI cable to a 55 inch with an HDMI cable. Now everything feels completely different when I play Halo4. Movement and targeting feel so strange now. This has my aim all screwed up. Do you think it is the screen size or the HDMI that is screwing with me? Has anyone else dealt with this after switching to a new TV? I hope I can get used to this and get back to normal. Please advise.

never had that problem , but you will eventualy get used to it.

Probably input lag. Some HDTVs process the image so it puts a second or so delay on your inputs. Basically if you move your crosshairs, instead of it happening as you do it, you watch it happen after you’ve done it.

It may take some time but you should get used to it. I have two 27" monitors that I use and whenever I move my 360 to a larger screen it takes me a while to get adjusted to it.

It’s the size of your TV. Smaller TV = Better aim, but then again, a larger TV makes it easier to see people. You need a thing in the middle, 19-25 inch TV screen. I myself have a “gaming” TV and a “normal” TV.

Look in the TV settings and try to deactivate any post processing effects your TV has, because they may be slowing it down a bit.

These days every TV manufacturer seems to be bragging about all the stupid cumbersome colour messing up effects they have. I would pay good money for a TV which just shows the image without screwing around.

Another thing TVs do now is mess with the frame rate. I call it soap opera mode cause it looks like cheesy TV. Check and see if you have any of that BS going on too.

you wont get used to it. I had the same problem. You have a TV not built for gaming.

That only happens on T.V.s bigger than 32" that have a crappy refresh rate. Any television over 32" needs to have at least 120hzs. or more.

Side note: Always turn off that stupid “game mode” most T.V.s now a days have.

HDMI is not good for gaming…go back to component video…

Yeah. And the OPs new TV is 55 inches.

I understand that; I was making it clear.

For years i played on a 24" LCD monitor.I got a 50" plasma not long ago and played on that for about 3 months. It took a while for me to get used to it and i was pretty good but always felt like somethign was “off” maybe it was because i played for so many years on my monitor i don’t know…but now i play single player stuff on my 50" it’s HDMI hook up and online on my 24" it’s also HMDI hook up.I have two systems and i don’t that isn’t an option from some people so not sure what to tell you. Ever since i went back to using my monitor for online,i feel like i’m much better again. It is true that settings can change things and sometimes. PS Sonic,Rayman and Skyrim on the 50" is pretty crazy, lol

Thanks I will try these things. I will prolly end up going back to my 32" though. I just moved it to a different room.

That’s what I play on.

I personally think that a 32" HD T.V. is perfect for gaming. I also use component because like another said above, HDMI screws with a lot of things in games.

You have to remember that the Xbox and PS3 were not originally designed for HDMI. HDMI came out years after and was added.

Yes, I had the same problem. After a while I got used to it, and now everything fine.

Like BADMAGIK said, the X360 wasn’t originally designed for HDMI, so it’s not really ideal for gaming. However, I had the same exact problem when I went from a small (not sure what the exact size was, probably about 27") SD Tv, to my 42" LCD tv… It’s a big change, but after a few weeks or so I got used to it. I also messed around with my settings a little bit and that seemed to help as well.

All I can tell you is to mess with your settings a bit, see if anything seems to help, and you’ll probably get used to it after a while. Once you get used to it, it’s definitely worth it. I love playing on my TV now.

had the same problem when i got a new HDTV. Couldnt adjust so i stayed on my standard tv.

This is why I use an HDMI 24 monitor to play my 360 on

Same here. The only thing I can do on it is forge or Spartan Ops. If I play matchmaking, I will go negative every time.

Sucks.
